So last year I was using opium frequently. When I cut back my usage is when stomach problems began...diarrhea, frequent bathroom visits and wrenching stomach pains....these symptoms would begin after bering clean for a day or so. Since I was cutting back, not stopping entirely, well, it took awhile to connect the two and really convince myself that Opiate withdrawal was the culprit. Well, I've use opiates in one form or another for 2 decades now--rarely ever becoming dependent and only going through bad withdrawals once before, often going months at a time clean--I was never a serious user, but like I said, nearly 20 years of use....I thought I knew what I was doing.

I was using straight opium, raw, unrefined, not stepped on, wholesome clean organic stuff. Fine, I grew it myself.

Since I did not right away realize my stomach problems as withdrawal, I went to a doctor. Gave blood and stool sample. The results showed nothing, no virus or anything.

I finally put 1 and 1 together and quit using. At 2 months clean...my stomach is still a problem. Not terrible, no real pain, but still, my stools are loose. I change my diet, less proccessed foods, more rice, I'm vegetarian now....I was on a raw vegan diet for a month, I've experimented....on real basic foods, like rice and veggies with nothing rich, greasy or spicy, my stomach is fine. BUt who can eat like that always, and why should I have to? And who ever heard of opium withdraw giving you the shits 8 months later????

So this year, my poppies swell again :) I'm disciplined. I spend hours tending these flowers and collecting the goodies, yet still not smoking it.

    I am disciplined.

But the sap gets on my skin whilst collecting....After a week and a half of harvesting the stomach problem gets bad again. I figure I've been accidentally ingesting small amounts, so I quit harvesting and have given my g/f what I collected before quiting.

    This is crazy right?

Loose stools after 8 months clean and as far as I am concerned opium must be the culprit.

Anyone ever heard of such a thing, or have any advice?

I just want my stomach to be the way it was before.

constantly changing your diet around could be contributing as well.

maybe go back to the doctor and fill him/her in on the whole thing and ask for some advice. it might end up being something completely unrelated.

Thank you....No I've experimented with my diet....but have kept it consistant for months at a time--plus these problems started a long while before that.

Now, going to a doctor and fessing up about the opium usage is a good idea.

Doctor visits aint free, besides, I have about 99.99999999999 percent certainty that these stomach issue are definately related to O. To be thorough, I still need to see a doctor again.

    Thanks :)
