i WASN'T INVOLVED BUT THIS IS A TRUE GOOD STORY FOR OUR BOOK. SOMEONE OUT THERE HAS ALL THE DETAILS. yEARS BACK WHEN THE GREATFUL DEAD GOT STRANDED OVERSEAS FOR AWHILE. UPON THERE FIRST RETURN THERE FIRST GIG WAS SAN FRANCISCO. ALL TICKETS WERE SOLD OUT IN ADVANCE. YOU COULDN'T BEG OR BUY ENTRY TO THE SHOW. BUT SOME OF THE FAMILY MEMBERS WENT TO THE STARSHIPS MANSION ON FULTON THE NIGHT OF THE SHOW AND GOT THE CARETAKER TOM SO FUCKING HIGH THAT HE AGREED WITH THE PLAN TO GET INTO THE SHOW. I'M PRETTY SURE THE HOLE IN THE WALL GANG WAS INVOLVED. ANYWAY THEY LOADED OLD JEFFERSON AIRPLAIN EQUIPMENT CASES INTO A RIDER TRUCK FILLED THEM WITH AS MANY BODIES AS WOULD FIT. PULLED UP TO THE LOADING DOOR AT I THINK WINTERLAND AND TOLD THE GUARD THAT THE STARSAHIP WAS GOING TO DO A SURPRISE JAM WITH THE DEAD. THE GUARD THREW THE GATES WIDE OPEN AND THE "ROADIES" UNLOADED THE EQUIPMENT CASES WHEN THEY GOT THEM TO A SECLUDED SPOT THEY OPENED THE CASES AND EVERYONE CLUIMED OUT AND HEADED OFF TO ENJOY THE SHOW. WELL AT SOME POINT THE GUARD NOITICED THAT THE CASES WERE EMPTY AND ALL HE COULD DEDUCT FROM THE SITUATION WAS THAT THESE PEOPLE WERE HERE TO STEAL THE DEADS EQUIPMENT SO OFF HE RAN TO FIND BILL. HE FOUND BILL AND TOGETHER THEY LOCATED GRACE AND PAUL. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THEY COULDN'T HELP BUT NOTICE TOM THE HOUSE GUY WALKING AROUND BACKSTAGE CARRYING PAULS GUITAR. TOM WAS SO LOADED HE COULD BARELY SPEAK. SO ONE OF THE G.E. BROTHERS INVOLVED EXPLAINED TO AN IRRATE SCREAMING BILL. THAT THEY ONLY WANTED TO GET INTO THE SHOW. EVERYTHING WAS GOOD AGAIN WHEN BILL SAID THAT HES COME UP AGAINST GATE CRASHER SCEEMS ALL OVER THE WORLD BUT THIS HAS TO BE TO BEST. ENJOY THE SHOW. TOM DIDN'T EVEN LOSE HIS JOB. AS FOR BILL, PAUL AND GRACE HOW COULD THEY NOT UNDERSTAND AND FORGIVE THAT'S WHAT ROCK AND ROLL IS ALL ABOUT.

 

Yes I have that story in the planned book already. One of the very first stories to be written. 11 months ago it was edited and put into the book layout. Maybe I could hook up with you, Mike, and add to this tale and broaden it more into an even cooler story than we have so far.

I talked with Sag Darel today Sunday. Says that he's really scraping, not even, by. However the only good news is that he did manage to make his very last truck payment! Fabulous NEWS. That nut doesn't have to be cracked in the next month or in any future months. Less future expenses. Yay! Darel. Wishing you good luck on the future income. Go Brother Go.

 

Wish I could be at the Oregon Country Fair this year. But I have an M.R.I. scheduled for the day before, Thursday the 12th., and an eye prosthesis doctor visit on the day after, on Monday the 16th. Poo poo happens. What are you going to do?

and how are you feeling?

 

I'm still at it Kenny. Me and my helper put up a gallon and a half jars of Green Tomato Relish yesterday. Picked Peppers and Tomatoes, pulled Watermelons and Cantaloupe. It got too hot to pick the Okra so we will have to do that today, along with making Bar-B-Que Sauce and pickle a peck of peppers.

It's been raining the past two days on and off. It has brought down the temp but raised the humidity. Good for the gardens. The second planting of purple hulls peas are deep purple and need picking today also. I dont pick the peas. They sir too low on the ground and my back prohibits me from bending and stooping too much.

That's why I gots me a friend to help out. She and her hubby help pick and me n her can. There would be twice as much on my canning shelf and in my freezer but I have been splitting the bounty with them.

I send sacks of produce home with family and friends that drop by. Everyone leaves with something.. lately it has been cantaloupe and watermelon, They're coming on like gang busters. There are not many ways to put up melons. I've tried freezer baging them but they penetrate the bag and make everything taste like cantaloupe and watermelon. Ice is not good tasting like melon.

So I am off to buy more canning jars this morning.

Got a full plate for today.

I feel pretty good, my fingers are still stiff and my back aches but I can handle it a couple more weeks.

Hey Cakes,

I was thinking about you saying that you are running out of freezer room and that you don't know what to do with all of the watermelon and cantelope and other stuff.

I have a science project for you and especially for Lynn. This involves an ice chest or you can try those cheap styrofoam ice coolers. You and Lynn need to look up where you can go and bye dry ice from. This should actually work great. And you don't have to refrigerate later for the storage, once all of the water in dehydrated. Just keep sealed!
