Yeah, I went to NLQP last year for a fest and the police presence was absolutely DISGUSTING... I've never seen anything like it before...

People would walk the trails not saying a fucking PEEP cause there was so many state troopers, sheriffs, and under cover's there... A dude in dreads in tie-dye would be selling something, as soon as someone approached him to make a buy, the guy would handcuff him and bust out a radio and within a minute or two there would be police swarming this guy carting him off to jail..

In fact it was so bad, on the last day of the festival, one of the organizers got up on stage and apologized to everyone in attendance.. I felt bad for them actually, not their fault the town got a new Sheriff who thinks his dick is 12ft long... The guy said that this was NOT the experience they were trying to provide for the festival community, but that they had to cooperate with police or face having the entire venue shut down... Shitty situation all around.

Don't get me wrong; I'm not there to score... I bring everything I need with me. However, it was to the point where it was impossible to enjoy yourself and catch good vibes while people are getting arrested and hassled by police left and right.. Not to mention it DESTROYED any sense of community, and you could tell the negative energy had an impact on the musicians...

I have literally never seen anything like it... Very scary. Needless to say, I will never be back to NLQP.. As I said, I feel bad for the owners of the venue... they've been having shows there for ages, and had a real tight-knit community going until this new Sheriff rolled into town.. And there's not much they can do except cooperate, or risk having the whole venue shut down.

A real shame it had to end up this way
