A friend has herpes on his face and we smoke

My good friend just found out he has herpes. He got it (he thinks) from going down on a girl before she told him he had it. He had an outbreak on his chin and we smoke together often. I have pimples near my lips that I wouldn't give a second thought to, but now I'm thinking...

I plan to get tested myself, but I'm wondering if anybody in the community has any experience with a situation like this.

 

Friends of mine have type 1 like cold sores occasionally and we smoke together every day. I've read that its usually skin to skin contact that spreads it, not objects. They've been my friends for years and it has never transferred.

 

Yea, that's what I'm thinking myself. I still plan to get tested because I've never done one before so it's a good idea.

He went to the doctor today and that's exactly what they said. Actually now we're thinking that he probably already had it because this shit showed up on his face way too soon after being with this girl and her saying she had it was the reason he got it checked out. The shit initially looked like a poison oak reaction to the rest of us... and the dude is around that stuff all the time.
