I can't do what you do. Somehow I have the instinct that I need to be protected, so even if it's hot, I have to have a cover over me or I won't be able to sleep. It's not that a single sheet would protect me from much, but I can't sleep without it.
I've been sleeping naked since I was 6 years old. Started sleeping naked without covers at 14 (summer only). Now as an adult, I wake up naked without covers 90% of the time, even when I cover myself at bedtime. I just throw them off in my sleep, they give me the same discomfort as clothing in the daytime.
I didn't start sleeping naked until i was like later in my teen years. I always have to have something over me as well.. if its a sheet or a light soft blanket .. something just has to be over me or i will have trouble getting to sleep and if i can get to sleep like that i will wake up all throughout the night.. Just like i have to go to sleep cuddling something. Either its a significant other.. or a pillow or my elfy. has to be something. Since i have to cuddle something i normally sleep on my side.
I usually like the warmth of a light sheet at night, but lately it's been so hot, the air itself is the only blanket I need. When I camp on the coast, I discovered that sleeping in a hammock is the only way to get air all over my body and sleep through the night. When the night temperature is 90 degrees at bed time and it cools to a chilly 80 degrees by dawn, the heat will keep you awake unless you are in a hammock. The Seminole in south Florida sleep that way in summer. Their huts called Chickees are open-air and they sleep on hammocks.
I usually sleep naked, with just the sheet covering my feet. With the window open for fresh air. +40 or -40, doesn't matter, the window is open, at least a crack.
