What are you're thoughts on Beauty?

Just a small open forum that can show what you, the good hippies of this forum, on you're ideas on beauty nowadays. Personally, I think what beauty in the opposite sex is starting to decline in todays mainstream society, where people are obsessed with their physical attributions and always ALWAYS find negative aspects about themselves.

 

I agree. People fuck with their appearance way too much and plastic surgery is way to common. People are all going to start looking exactly the same: fake and plastic.

 

i work in a place where 'beauty' is defined by being blonde, stick thin and covered in make up. it makes me feel like beauty is no longer objective. Therefore, if you dont look like this there is no beauty and so you find negative attributes....because you feel like there cant be any positive....so i agree with you.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That is all I can say.

 

Like everything, Beauity has also been turned into something to be consumed, it is a commodity. Therefore its definition is constantly changing. Yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder but we are constantly told how to behold and where to behold.

 

people these days are way to obsessed with their physical appearance. you could be walking down the street and see a really drop dead gorgeous female and you would never guess that she had to spend thousands maybe even millions to look that way and that she has some insecurities and mental problems . If the people nowadays spent even HALF the time and money on their mentality they would end up being a really beautiful person instead of being an ugly person.

 

I like beauty, it's everywhere, and it's wonderful...

 

I thought beauty was in the eye of the BEER-holder. Seroiusly though, everyone on this planet i beautifull if you can open your eyes and look for it. Personally I hate the barbie doll, paris hilton stuff that television and movies shove down our throats everyday. Personally I like a woman that is, for lack of a better word, "thick" in all the right places. But it is the warmth and beauty inside that counts when youre talking about love.

 

The most beautiful thing about a woman is the beauty she sees in herself--her confidence and inner strength. I suppose if risking post-opperative infections and whatnot and going through the pain of body modification surgery makes a woman feel more beautiful, well, you do what you need to do. But there has to be an eaiser way.

I think Heinlein said something like men always fall in love with beautiful women. He just might not notice that she's beautiful till after he's fallen in love.

i also agree with antithesis in that the ppl of our society are becoming way too fake and plastic... it's a shame that shows like "the swan" and "extreme makeover" are so popular

 

I had heard before that Heinlein was a bit of a chauvinist. I've never noticed it in his books, though.
I agree that beauty is all around. We just have to open our eyes to it.

 

I find that beauty is in the smallest details of things. That's why it's so wonderful: you have to look a little bit closer.

 

Beauty is wonderful, and the appreciation of beauty is more wonderful still...I certainly enjoy it. But beauty exists on several levels simultaneously, so the plastic-surgery graduates are only part-way there.

 

my aesthetic pleasure in beauty is nature...nature= beauty...therefore wouldnt we all be more beautiful if we were more natural?

 

I think plastic surgery can be good for some people.
People who for some reason have trouble living normally because they're so big they can't walk more than 20 steps before they have to sit down.
Or if their confidence is so broken that it's in the way of how they are with other people.
But when people do plastic surgery because they have a small bump on their nose or their breasts are smaller than the girl they saw in that porn movie the other night, it's gone too far.

some people in my life think i look good but under im really fucked up and i look nothing liek what i do on the outside...but you know i mean like, in my age.. i know alot of girls.. we just want to go look good and the best we can be. we dont cae about our age (most 14, 15, 16 year old girls that i know) we all want to look hot and apealing for the other people.

lately, ive been feeling pretty depressed about that whole thing (above). i have been skipping the makeup- well except for eye liner.. i have been putting on more then usual lately, skiping the brushing of my hair.. covering up my face with bangs.. however i will not deny that i am still on this stupid anorecxic mentality.. i'll admit it im obsessed with my weight and i know its a bad thing. ive lost 7 pounds and i'm going to slow down... i know alot about these things an di know its bad for my body.[why do the smokers smoke if they are giving themselves all kinds of diseases.. with the education about all that] my metabolic rate is slowing down and im gonig to gain alot of weight back fi i keep this up so i should really exercise because taht is key to weight loss.. and you can go and tell me off all you want.. you just dont know.. when i see some really thin girl off a magazine just looking into the camera with her thin face, gaunt and spread lips natural.. no huge huge cheeks like mine.. and no flabby arms and the thinnest thighs... ohhhh.. i just cannot help feeling a bit insecure of myself..

wahtever i am rambling on about my thoughts. jsut thought i would let you know about one of those girls you guys are talking about.

 

My, People can be shallow these days. I don't mean anyone on this thread, but, people in general. IMO, Humans have forgotten how to see the REAL Beauty of anyone.
Everyone is so stuck on ones physical appearance. I'm embarrased to be a member of the species. Real beauty can be found in the persons eyes.
