This guy I'm seeing wants me to be on birth control, but I know absolutely nothing about it. I'm 19 years old. If my family ever found out that I've had sex they'd kill me. They think I'm a perfect little angel who is very sexually uneducated. However, I'm not sure how birth control works? What are some pros/cons? Can I get some without my family knowing because I'm over 18?

That's not his decision to make.

When families don't talk about sex, it doesn't necessarily mean they think no one is having sex and that they'd kill anyone who was (lol). Your parents were 19 once, they know 19yo people have sex. The fact that they choose to turn a blind eye on it only shows that they're uncomfortable with the idea that their lil girl is growing up, but they aren't stupid either.

I'm assuming u mean "how do birth control pills work?". The best way to learn about that is to go to a doctor's. U're an adult, u don't need anyone's approval to go see a doctor's. Even if u go to your family's doctor, there's something called confidentiality.
Just don't forget that birth control pills don't protect u against STDs.
