So I used to be prescribed 10mg of d-amphetamine twice a day. I used to get 60 Dexedrine a month, 10mg. I used to be on my moms insurance plan though and now I don't have one. How would I approach the doctor to get my Dexedrine script back? And how much would it cost for the visit? I know the script is like $7.50 without insurance, very cheap.

I was just thinking of saying school is starting back up again and I want to get my Dexedrine script refilled for school. Thoughts?

Maybe I'm missing something here but why not just tell the doc your situation with the insurance, say the Dexedrine was working for you and ask for the same rx as before?

Oh. I kinda forgot to mention I haven't had it for a few months at least.

I wouldn't think that would be a problem. Just say you were trying going without it to see if you still need it and you do. If the doc prescribed it to you before then he's clearly not against it.

Just in the interest of full disclosure, I don't know what Dexedrine does. What is it?

I agree, it shouldn't be a problem at all.

It's one isomer of amphetamine, a stimulant.

It's the isomer responsible for the CNS effects (dopamine and serotonin release). The l-isomer doesn't do much more than release norepinephrine....

Just tell him that your insurance ran out, and you couldn't afford it, so that is why you haven't been on it within the past few months.

I don't see any problem with getting it back, you were prescribed it for a reason, and I am sure that "reason" didn't just go away...

Just call your doctor and see if he can do anything over the phone.. explain to him your situation.. he'll tell you if you need to make an appointment or if he'll just be able to phone in a Rx

yea there will be no problem. hell i could get a doctor to give me anything, but your situation is not even an issue. Just say I now have coverage and really would like to be placed back on my medication I find i am lacking without it.

    There done
