I don't think this is in the right thread category. But quick question for you folks out there .. If you filled out an application lets say.. Saturday to .. lets say Pizza Hut. And today it's let's say.. Monday How long should or would it take them to call you ? How do I know that I'm not going to get hired ? Do I call back up there , to see if they have forgotten ?
You're going to have to put in more than one application (at different places) and hope somebody calls... I doubt you will get a job by just trying one place.
I'VE TRIED FOUR .. lol if you've read. SMH ! And please actually read the rest of what I said too , before you reply back to this.
you could be contacted anywhere from the day you put in the application to a month later. you need to apply everywhere you can think of though. especially for an entry level position, putting in four applications is basically the equivalent of putting in no applications. you can always call them too, although that's iffy. sometimes it will work in your favor, and sometimes it will piss them off. not sure where you live, but i know for a fact that most pizza huts in northeast ohio aren't allowed to hire minors.
I live in Texas , you can basically work anywhere when you're 16. and I only live in walking distance by four near-by places. But when should I decide to call them , if necessary ?
i don't know, it pretty much depends on the manager what is likely to work. maybe around a week or so. if they're all in walking distance, you might be better off just popping in again instead of calling. make sure you use logic too; don't call pizza hut during dinner time for example because they won't have time for you and it will just annoy them.
So , wait like a week or so and call in the morning time like 7-8 ish ? What should I say ? I've done that once before to Whataburger & was like .. " Hi , My name is ____ ____ & I'm calling in to see if I was being considered as an employee " and the manager was like , yess .. I remember you ( had an interview- i did great , made him laugh. ) and he said he was going to call me back in a hour because they were busy. But he never did. And i didn't call back ,because I didnt want to be annoying. So I waited another week & called back up there , same words. & this lady was like " Someone already filled the position , Sorry." -___- So that's why I need pointers/ tips on what to do or say..
i don't know about first thing in the morning. for pizza hut and any food places that don't serve breakfast, they're probably not even in yet, and for anyone else they're just setting up for the day. i would probably go with mid afternoon, like 2-3. of course, it depends on where you're applying, but that should be good at least for most food places. what you said seems fine. again, maybe going in would be better, because 1) you can see if they're super busy and just turn around and not bother them if they are and 2) it's harder to brush you off if you're there in person. but if you prefer to call, i think you basically have the right idea. getting hired is mostly a matter of being in the right place at the right time, so you basically just have to keep trying. since you only have the four places that you can get to, you might just have to take the old "go in every day and harass them until they give in and give you a job" route.
Lol , "go in every day and harass them until they give in and give you a job" route. But I like you're ideas of going in , in person.. ha , you're so right. I think I'll try that and if i call , I rather call in the morning , afternoon seems like the climax of their business maybe not so 7-8 ish.. but around 10 or 11?
If you want to do restaurant work, you should go between 2-3:30, which is usually the slowest part of their day and when you would most likely find a manager willing to talk to you. In the am, they are ALWAYS going to be busting tail to get ready for their day, making sure everybody shows, etc. I know from experience that this is the best time...also that restaurant is MADE FOR the young and energetic. (which is why I want something else now )
To get a job, you usually need to call them. Don't expect them to call you. If you appear to want the job, you will be more likely to get hired.
With the unemployment rate at astronomical levels, you need to send out a lot more than 4 applications as a 16 year old to have a successful attempt. http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/...n-working-age-americans-that-do-not-have-jobs It's hell out there. People are sending out hundreds and thousands of applications just to be turned down. Many of these people are college graduates, who later end up working as cashiers, waiters, etc.
There's only 4 places I can work at in near-by walking distance. If there was more I would have filled out alot more , trust me. That's why I'm so determined to get this last job I filled an application for , PizzaHut. It's literally my last hope. But I understand what you're saying. Alot of people are unemployed.. and need a job .. smh
Lol. okay I'll call around 2 ish. I just thought the afternoon was going to be bad-timing . But I trust you're experience. Thanks.
Lol . Yeah , but I just don't want to seem annoying . My last expected job I got interviewed for and whatnot.. And I called them like a week later & that week after that.. and they seemed irritated. lol But I think it was just bad-timing ..
Nah, a lot of you guys are wrong. Just because you put in an application and they dont call you right away doesnt mean they arent interested. Show some gumption and call then. Maybe they will be impressed you are showing initiate. Sometimes you have to reach out and not wait for them to come to you. True of SOME situations, not all. Some places where you fill in online applications can take longer for them to get back to you as well. Give it a few days after you turn in the application. And call them. Chances are they wont have even looked at your application yet anyway. Remind them of your name, and ask to see if they have the application still.
