Well I've been having a deal with nerve/muscle/ligament pain lately was considering some alternative options for management as I don't prefer drugs anymore or at least try to avoid them. Anyways I was considering massage therapy or even acupuncture which I've heard good things about. I'd appreciate hearing opinions or suggestions as I'd like to make the best choice since I prolly can afford both lol.

I would recommend acupuncture depending on the price.

if it's the same as the massage, then acupuncture

the quality of all medical services varies with the practioner

If the acupuncturist is Chinese - and I don't mean to sound prejudiced - then DO IT. They are just better trained and know wth they are doing! I went through acupuncture for years for my back, and it absolutely worked, for me. The Chinese lady also explained that it doesn't work for everybody and they do sort of a test (don't know how else to explain it) and they put needles in different places and if you have a reaction to it, it will work for you.
After a while it worked liked NOTHING else. I'm serious. Pills only take the edge off the pain, and I don't care what, a person always builds up a tolerance to pills. Plus like I say, pills don't erase the pain...at most they take the "edge off" and for a (short) time may make you not care, which is NOT necessarily good.
For me, I'd recommend acupuncture everytime. Unless you have a really strange ailment, it does NOT hurt...it might pinch for a sec when the needle goes in, but that is it.
That first test may hurt some - to see if your body will respond to acupuncture, but that is it.

You can always try some supplements.
I have been having some extreme lower back pains this year with an injury I obtained as a kid. I'm thinking nerve related damage, it sends jolts of pain all through my body. Lately I've been tanking calcium and magnesium pills, zinc and vitamin D which helps absorb them all. I have these once a day with meals plus at least one 20 minute HOT bath. It's made all the difference I tell you.

These supplements may not work for you, but others may. It could be a cheap alternative albeit a tad expensive when you run out. >.>

Both, but with caveats. I've used both therapeutic massage and acupuncture to great effect, but how well it works REALLY depends on the practitioner. Also, you should know that therapeutic massage often does not feel good, it's often quite painful and can leave you quite some pain for up to a week.

If you're accepting of medical marijuana you may want to explore using that as well. It doesn't have to be smoked, or even directly ingested in any way. An old Mexican grandma's trick is to soak fan leaves in rubbing alcohol and use that as a rub for arthritis and muscle soreness.

Another good natural remedy for muscle or bruising soreness is Arnica montana.

I think it's a good idea to think about why you're having these issues if you don't know...because even if you find something that works, if you continue to do the thing that's causing the issue it will come back...so do you have any clue why you're having this pain?

    You need an assessment.
    In Traditional Chinese Medicine, accupuntcure=surgery.
Tui na an mo (massage in TCM) and herbs come first, along with lifestyle modifications.

Make an appointment with a massage therapist. Look for people who work with sports massage (which is really activity, daily living activity) and use PNF type methods.

We are trained to assess but not diagnose. We can asses where restrictions are and what therapies will help your body heal.
