    Hey all,

I've done a little reading up on different methods of branding but still have some questions.
I don't know why, but lately I have it in my head that I want to get marked like an animal. Don't know where it came from, but I'm thinking a brand on my buttcheek or on the sole of my foot. I know they're both places not a lot of people would see, and I'm okay with that. I also know the mark would have to be big enough so it would still be clear enough to recognize when it healed. (I'm thinking the lambda symbol)
I've never gotten into the BDSM scene - nothing against it, just never did it - and I don't think this would make me change my thinking that way. I don't have an addictive personality, so I wouldn't end up getting marked all over. I was done with tattooing after my first one. (I know tatts on the soles are a bad idea, thats why I'm not going that route. Plus, branding seems just a little "edgier" to me.)
I realize this would be a permanent mark and I'm good with that. And it might go against the whole purpose of a body mod if it's not readily visible. Who knows, I might even chicken out if this is just a passing thought. I guess I'm just looking for advice or to hear about any experiences anyone has.
Thanks, I know I'm kind of rambling but I just wanted to throw this out there and see what came back. I'd appreciate any and all serious replies.

I'm also interested in advice from people who have gotten branded. I am looking to get one done as well.

Just curious, but in body modification, do people use cold or hot brands?

It hurts like hell and if you don't do it right it won't be permanent. Usually you have to rub something into the burn inorder to ensure it scars if you don't normal produce keloid scars.

Also you have to be very careful not to move and the brander has to have steady hands while the brand is still in or else you won't get clean lines and youll fuck up the brand. This is hard to do when you have a piece of red hot metal melting your flesh like a hot knife through butter.

my advice is that 99% of society thinks this is stupid and not a valid expression of individuality...they make you sign a pretty comprehensive document before hand...

    can you guess why?

I can tell you that cold branding likely won't work, unless you placed it on your scalp. Cold branding will cause the hairs to grow white. Hot branding will hurt like an SOB. I haven't been branded, but have branded cattle, and I would expect the same reaction in people. Personally, I wouldn't want a brand, but the thought of it is intriguing.

best way to experience a hot brand is to push your red hot car lighter onto your ass or thigh[or penis] and see if you can hold it there for more than .5 of a second...it used to be common to do this to unsuspecting people while cruising in the car...i know several friends that have one on their leg or arm lol

You only have to do it once, the person doing mine has done it to 50+ people successfully. I am heavily thinking about getting it this fall.

adding the word succesfully means that some were unsuccessful ,no?....how many?

Which method does this person use - strike or electrocautery? I would seriously like to find someone who does the "hot-iron-in-the-fire" method.

I'm also not sure if there are places on the body that just won't hold a brand. I've heard the reasons tattoos on the soles of your feet aren't a good idea (I wanted to get a UPC tattooed on my sole years ago but couldn't find anyone who'd do it) - is getting a brand there a bad idea for the same reasons?

Thanks again for your input, everyone.

P.S. - Octopus, may I ask where you are?

This is a pre made hot in the fire iron brand ;) which I will probably do at the next gathering.

Tats on your hands and bottom of your feet I have heard is not a good idea. Your sole is walked on everyday and it would rub the scar from a brand away and ink also. Your hands you wash so often, and the ink bleeds. Have you ever written on the top of your hand with a sharpie? It bleeds all over in your skin, not like on your arm. The skin is different.

Octopus live in the ocean ;)

  14. Wow! What planet are you peeps on! Yeah, I'll get someone to hold a red hot piece of metal against my skin until I can smell the flesh burn just to be individual. Get a fucking life!

I didn't even know that people willingly did that to their bodies . I thought subdermal implants were already pretty crazy but that sounds even more painful (and not too pretty but that's just my opinion).

    man, that's one barbaric joke

I hate to say it, but the cigarette lighter "joke" has been going on for a very long time. The scars may not always show for very long.
Another trick was to heat up the metal top of your bic lighter, and press that into someones arm/leg. etc. And then there was always just holding a lit lighter under your victim's pants, see how long it takes for them to react. Works best when they are wearing jeans/denim.

This is more of a symbol of my love for my favorite place, people and way of life. It is nothing I just would have thought up.
