i tip hook up fees because i usually get my bud at the bottom of the ladder. if you buy bud from someone who buys it at no profit to himself then you have to give him a hook up fee or he just did you a favor and you owe him because he got nothing out of it otherwise.
I hate it when i get dragged into a cheeba hawk nest. you ever have that happen? you have a friend who is your only hook up, you give him the money and he says ok now we have to go see this one guy. then you go see him and your friend has some 10 or 20 other friends waiting to see someone pull out a bag. the second it hits your hand everyone and their friend/brother/sister/aquaintance want just a little to smoke. just a little bit? just a little more? some for (so and so)? could you give some for (so and so)? you know you could just say fuck you but if you do you estrange your dealer, your friend, and your dealers and/or friends friends. its like they concider it rude not to smoke them out if you ever have grass. damn, of the people that smoke in my town there are probably more than 90% that are cheeba hawks. my towns just dry too often. i have to worry about offending cheeba hawks and hookup fees and etiquite just a little too much because hookups are few and far between (unless you like random laced pot).
so yeah its not just about when you buy from the growers and everyones rich and swimming in jah, theres a flip side to the coin where people are poor, grass is scarce, and the vast majority of dealers are just random people motivated by hookup fees.
but yeah when you are buying from people that grow or deal for profit (or to take a pinch in between point a and b) then a hookup fee doesnt seem that neccessary anymore.

    ignignokt,

your describing a husseler, not a dealer.

a dealer, like a used-car dealer, is a guy who actually has the weed to sell.

so you mean if someone gets you grass than they arent concidered a dealer? i dont think that would make them a hustler though if they came through on the deal though, unless im missing something in your logic.

    Hustler- no bad connotations.

They are getting the weed for you- commiting a FELONY for you- and surely they deserve something for thier sins.
So if it's your friend you get 'em high- someone else either charged you extra or pinched the bag, or they are an idiot. A felony is a felony. Quid pro quo.

The problem arises when hustlers start getting that rock star complex that too many dealers get, and start thinking it's them, and not thier connections that is so popular.

    bottom line...

basically there's no one way to do anything. some have their dealers smoke them out, some the other way around. some prefer not to give them anything at all... nothing is wrong with any, and no person is wrong for doing any of them.

no economics involved... nothing is wrong with smoking or not smoking someone out.

Honestly it all depends how much your buying from him. Not if your just buying a dime or something. But if you buy a 1/4 or something, give him 2 dollars or so for gas money for delivering to you. I've had people give me gas money for delivering and I always gave them fatter sacks.

Wow there were a lot of good posters in this thread....

I think the best tip to offer a dealer, is repeat business. you take care of me, I'll continue to allow you make money off me and usually smoke you a bowl when I pick up. but then again , I also hang out with my "dealer" a couple of days a week.

the only time i "tip" a dealer is when he delivers, to pay for gas and convince.

Absolutley correct. There is no need to tip if your chillin at a party with him, and you decide to buy and he walks out to his car. Now if they drive across town, their spending gas to please you, their taking risks on delivering, and their usuing more of their selling time. Then you should tip a couple dollars. I had a guy tip me a week ago $10.00 just for delivering 100 xanax bars a few miles from my house.

I only buy organic bud direct from Mendo County which results in my 'dealer' making a three hour trip just to deliver...

i think this is about right...most dealers will not turn down a buyer unless they are the super paranoid type,or its obviously a narc. the opportunity is there for anybody to make tons of money from selling weed, the hard part is getting enough people who want to buy it
