Hi all, I have been a user for over two years now and I really want to change... I am tired of waking up sick, I am tired of being broke... and most of all I am tired of the circle I am caught in. Recently I have been experimenting with a substance known as Kratom: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kratom While it does not get me high, due to my tolerance I suppose, it does noticeably negate the sickness... my energy is back to where it was before I was using... I can socialize with people... it seems to help ALOT!!! But unfortunately at the price it is commonly sold at, it would be cheaper to just taper with the tar... but we all know how easy that is :| Then I stumbled upon a kratom vendor with prices half of what I typically see it go for: http://www.meridianbotanicals.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=243 Based on the cost... not only of the junk compared to the kratom, but the cost of my freedom I think I am going to go for it. I have heard that using kratom to avoid the sickness for a few weeks, twice daily, and tapering the dose every time is an effective way to get clean. While I have read that kratom has withdrawals of it's own, I cannot think they could be anywhere near as bad as how I feel every morning... worst I have heard is strong irritability... I can deal with that, as long as I do not get sick.. that's the absolute worst. So my question is this: Has anyone here ever used kratom to successfully taper off of strong opiates? (oxy, h, morphine, fentanyl...) What type of regimen did you use to do so? Do you think it is a superior option to sub or bupe? I have heard the withdrawals for those are long and quite nasty, but have no experience with either. Thank you!
Sorry to be a dick, but im kinda tired and just skimmed through this post. Ive tried various different tyoes if Kratom and it does very little to nothing to ME. That doesnt mean it wont for you or doesnt for other people. Anyway, idk if you have a serious opiate problem, Kratom could probably help a little, but not that much.
It is worth a try! It is a very mild mu-opioid agonist (by means of 7- hydromyxtazapine (sp?)) and is relatively safe. It may be cheaper than Suboxone as well since you don't have to go to the doctor. I personally react poorly to Kratom: it makes me nauseated, probably because of the non-opioid ingredients in the plant. Give it a try though.
Kratom can be used successfully to get off opiates. Kratom can greatly ease withdrawls from opiate addiction.
Another thing could help as well, and I know that it's been posted before, and some people disagree with it's usefulness, but you could try loperamide. It's the active ingredient in Imodium AD. I've used it when my meds run out early and I have a few days to wait on a refill. And it works, to a certain extent. It's not a cure, but it does seem to help somewhat. The dose I've used is 16mg per day. That's a lot higher than the recommended dose of 2-4mg per day, but way lower than I've heard of other people taking. But I'm not on heroin either, so I don't know how well it would work in your case.
kratom will be your best bet because it is infact hard to get 'high' from if you are a regular opiate user. but it will still provide good regulation of mu while doing thru wd. loperamide also helps. the vendor you posted, is a good friend of mine and his price is indeed fair. he sells several kinds of kratom and gets new ones weekly. send him an email and ask what his strongest variety is this week. there are huge supply reliability issues with kratom and the strength is about as variable as pot(.1%-30%) in strength so what kind you get is important. NO extracts, no powders or processed kratom products. just leaf and water. honey and lemon. there are combo lists floating around bluelight of what otc things to take to totally block wd symptoms. i never had luck with subutex or any of the other wd treatments. they seem to be aimed at keeping you on a hard opiate with no real concern for how you feel. just that money ends up in the hands of astra-zenica and phfizer. MOst important tho, i suggest you ask this question on opiphile or better bluelight. hipforums has about the worse information regarding drugs and pharmacology out there. upwards of 50% of the things stated here about drugs are simply false(for various reasons) and this is not a reliable source. note, kratom can have wd of its own(rare, normally feels more like a mild sickness not wd). and overdose of kratom sucks balls so each batch of kratom needs a dosage titration. most nausea related reactions of kratom are from overdose or a shit vendor selling wild kratom. or most likely, the user looking for a high that this plant just will not provide. if you picture the market, most kratom is grown where it is illegal, very little is known outside of local communities about breeding for effect. recent demand has led to people cutting leaves off wild plants in the forest or by the road and as we know with pot, a lb of ditch weed might not get a single person baked but 100mg of properly cultivated pot can get 2 ppl baked. same applies here except that very few ppl in the whole cultivation and distribution setup understand what it is they are providing. dont smoke it. it is a waste. dont extract or isolate.. the two most potent mu compounds in the plant have little effect without the other 100 or so mildly active sub-compounds. steeping time can be important, what you mix it with can be important. you have a bigger problem and that is the fact that you have been abusing an instant chemical form of love and happy. you will have far worse times getting past the mental longing and boredom that come with a life without diacetylmorphine. but you can get by it. and it is worth it.
Yeah, that's true, it's ultimately up to the individual. If the drug has become the center point of your life there will be a void that you'll have to fill with something if you expect to get through it, and that part is up to you. Speaking of bluelight, I just went there and found an opiate withdrawal guide. And it does mention loperamide. But I think he exaggerates it's effectiveness a bit, even going so far as to call it "OTC Methadone". Like I said, it helped me somewhat, but I wouldn't call it a miracle. I still had RLS symptoms to a degree and insomnia, but I also have a script for Xanax, which I really don't use as much as I'm prescribed, but that has helped me with the insomnia and anxiety that come with wd's. I'll go ahead and post the link to that withdrawal guide, maybe it can help. http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/threads/32895-*MERGED*-Guide-to-narcotic-withdrawal
Lope worked for me yesterday, but I don't have any today to take, and it sucks. I haven't tried Kratom, because I am WAY to impatient to WAIT for my drugs to be mailed to me, heh. Off-topic: Glowstick, you play Maple and stick as well? =D
Good news everybody, it worked! I have been opiate clean (not kratom, heh) since December! I am so impressed with how easy it was to transition and I have to say I feel so much healthier and better about myself. This plant is a godsend and I do not know where I would be without it! If there is anything that is keeping you on the fence, please do yourself a favor and make the leap of faith and give it a shot! You will not be disappointed in the slightest!
