I don't think FL is so bad. I've braved many sub zero winters. That is something I likely won't be crying about not experiencing next year.

Hear that, my friend. Moving out of upstate NY to avoid the 6 months of winter--which is almost tolerable in comparison to the HUGE amount of taxes we're expected to pay. I think NY politicians are under the false impression that it's a privilege to live in this state or something.

Fl. is almost like 3 states. the KEYS are truly jewels. N. Fl. is much different then C. Fl. we have the best beaches in the Country. Great fishing. Summer from April till Oct. U have to remember most people here came from somewhere else. & if you don't like it here I 75 & I 95 do have N. bound lanes !!! I don't run down other states that I really don't know much about !! EVERY STATE has it's armpit areas !!!

After spending 20 years in Florida (St Pete) i was very happy to leave, jobs are mostly minimum wage, suburban sprawl has run rampant, traffic is usually chaos, then theres the 8-9 month heat and humidity to deal with..I actually prefer a cold Canadian winter day to a hot and humid Florida summer day.

It's funny, everyone I know is hating on Florida and yet I'm trying to get back there myself. Honestly while not the greatest place ever it does have nice beaches and a good night life, and cheaper rent than here In NY. I just don't see why everyone hates it there.

With a population getting close to 20 million i'd say most people really like the place. as some one who lived there 20 years theres much to like and i enjoy making a yearly pilgrimage back to see friends and family. Problem i got is i cant do heat and humidity which relegates me to virtual imprisonment in an air conditioned environment if temps get above 80,fortunately i plan my visits in January. I also dont see the point of beaches,at 65 i dont make sand castles any more,i dont like swimming in salt water,i dont like sand getting into everything and just sitting on the beach getting a radiation burn while looking at water is a kinda boring pastime.

See I feel the exact opposite, after dealing with brutal winters my hole life and a spring/summer that seems to only last a quarter of the year, sometimes mostly rainy or under 60 with 20 degree nights, I really don't mind the heavy heat. When I moved to Florida the first time everyone wondered how I could deal with a brutal summer and my reasoning was having dealt with brutal winters, I'll always prefer heat to cold. What I don't like about Florida, what made me leave was the lack of decent work, but I'm finally excepting that I'm a failure in life and pretty much will only ever have a go no where job so yeah I'd rather be where it's warm and fun than where it's cold and full of bad memories.

i live in rural florida, horse country. it's beautiful here, the pure cold springs, the trees dripping w/ spanish moss and the wild life is in abundance. sure the summers here can be unpleasant but i rather sweat a bit for a couple of months than spend winters in the cold white north with snow up my ass for tedious months seemingly w/o end (been there. done that.) but hey hey hey! to each their own. you florida haters can keep on truckin on out of the sunshine state. all the more room for me!
