this guy is a HARDCORE Christian and also all of his beliefs are based on his parents beliefs. he was about to take a heavy dose of mushrooms (4g's), but he ended up having to postpone his trip.....so my question is if he had taken this trip would he come out of it almost traumatized and just i guess ruined? because he has no understanding about life whatsoever and has no independent values also and now that i thought about this i don't think i wanna let him have this experience i dont wanna be the one who's responsible for introducing him to this experience....i'd feel terrible if he came out like amazed, but then got depressed because he realized his life is a lie....which it is unfortunately...one of the nicest guys you'll meet though lol and sorry if i'm kind of rambling
i was under the impression that psychedelics would almost for sure shatter or alter a christian view negatively....... good post
You would be doing him a favor. The earlier he gets away from that poisonous bullshit the better off he will be. I know people in their 40s and 50s that come to the realization their entire life has been a lie and they have wasted their life kneeling and praying when they should have been enjoying and experiencing life. They become deeply depressed and feel they have wasted their lives.
Depends why he is actually ignorant. I have called a buddy of mine ignorant too for always believing what his mom says. If this guy is just being called ignorant because he happens to believe the same as his parents, yeah, that would be a shame.
Some people think Jesus and Christianity is actuly based heavuiily on mushroom usage. John Allegro is the best example.
It is not the fact that he believes in the Christian doctrine which will determine that his experience will be a worldview-shifting one, but rather that, at least according to you OP, he has given very little of his own critical thinking to his position, and instead adopts it by default because it's what his parents believe. That is what will be challenged. He may ultimately conclude that he still will choose to believe in the divinity of Jesus etc. 4g is a very large dose though . . . I would not want to be around someone like that when they eat 4gs of mushrooms lol.
Yeah, I don't get why you think he'd be traumatized. Would you be reluctant to give mushrooms to a hippie kid who was raised in a commune, whose beliefs are in large part based on his parent's beliefs for fear of turning him into a Reaganite? I've seen Amish kids tripping their faces off and guess what - They were still Amish 8 hours later. It's extremely arrogant to presume that because you don't share another person's belief that his whole life is a "lie". Would you go up to the Dali Lama and treat him like a child because you thought that Tibetan Buddhism was a bunch of B.S.? This kind of attitude is exactly why this world sucks. You do realize that you are displaying the same kind of intolerance that extremists of every race, nationality and religion (including and especially HARDCORE Christians) exhibit. Stop contributing to intolerance - we've got plenty enough already.
thx for the post and i think your right, but at the same time i dont wanna be the one to introduce him to the psychedelic experience
i'm a great friend to him its just the cold truth that he's ignorant and happens to be a christian not my fault
I KNOW this guy better than anyone else in the world and his life is based on 'lies' or allusions i know it for a fact and im just trying to make sure i dont hurt or traumatize a good friend how is that bad??? psychedelics aren't for everyone we can all agree on that and i think he's one of those people.....his whole family are extreme christians IF something were to happen it could ruin his relationship with his family a bit probably.....please dont judge me for this i'm just trying to make the right choice of if he should experience this or not ....i'm not as familiar with these substances as you guys imo from reading threads and thats why im asking you guys
