all 3 major networks simulcast important space achievements

    the did that for one small step. 8 hours for all 3, actually 4 counting national educational television as it had been before it became pbs. some of them extending live coverage even longer then that, and in place of their normal paid programing. there was similar coverage for sputnic. there was a bit less at the beginning of the shuttle program. the launch of the first modules of the i.s.s. was at least covered.

    less then 24 hours ago the falcon lifted dragon to a successful orbital insertion, on its way to rendevious with the i.s.s.

    if it weren't for nasa's web site, and a thread on another forum, not part of hips, in which i participate in, pointing me to it, i might never have known it happened until days later.

    And they'd wheel a TV into the school cafeteria and we'd all watch.

    Do they all cover anything that way anymore? Even when the president makes a speech?
