Hello, my name is Rob. I'm 20 years old, and I live in a small flood ravaged town in "upstate" New York. A few friends of mine, and I are planning a "hike?" to leave this place. We all have grown up in nature, and are very serious when it comes to off the grid living.

It has been my dream for years to leave society behind and pick up off the grid somewhere.

The problem is, we're having trouble deciding our end destination, In my opinion I'd rather just go, and live day by day until I figure it out, but that makes the others uneasy. I really need to do this, to grow as a person, mentally, and physically.

We're looking for a place to live, in return for labor, and skills.
So far, I've found "Mountain Brook Hideaway" in Colrain Mass. in the Rolling Hills. If anyone has any suggestions regaurding a good commune, or tips on the travel, I'd greatly appreciate any insight anyone has to offer.
