:sultan:I know there are atleast a few of you out there that listen to Shpongle. Whats you favorite album? How did you learn about Shpongle? When do you listen to Sphongle? What type of mood does it put you in? Let us talk Sphongle!!:sultan:
I listen to shpongle when ever, my favorite album is Nothing Lasts, but Nothing is Lost. It puts me in a weird/happy mood. I learned about shpongle while looking up 1200 microgram songs!
Yes!! A Shpongle thread! I was first introduced to them by a friend who I met while Wwoofing in California. Incidentally, the same friend also facilitated my first acid trip, but thats another story. I was surprised to learn that they were from England, and even that Posford was from the same county as me in England....but I'd never heard of them until I got over to the US. Anyway, I've been pretty much hooked on them ever since...my favourite album is probably Nothing lasts....but Tales of the inexpressible is a close second! That music takes me to another level...I love it so much
All their albums are amazing, my favorite is probably Are You Shpongled? because it had the biggest impact on me as I had never heard any music like it at the time. I heard about them through a friend. I saw Shpongle live last year which was really mindblowing and a concert that I never thought I would get the chance to experience, I've seen Simon do a Shpongle DJ set as well.
I love Shpongle! Nothing lasts but nothing is lost was the soundtrack for one of my best acid trips and a classic whenever I smoke! I love anything by Simon Posford, Raja Ram, the whole Twisted music collective for that matter!
I am a fan of all their albums, however if I had to pick one, it would be Are You Shpongled?. I was introduced to them by a friend who bought one of the cds to tafe, I have not really seen that friend since. But have listen to Shpongle many times since
Shpongle is great! I heard of them through my other favorite band Quintessence, which was Raja Ram's old band in the sixties, he rips some crazy flute solo's in Quintessence, like in their song "Midnight Mode". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5TtdmUwcOU"]The Quintessence - Midnight Mode - YouTube Personally, I like Quintessence more than Shpongle sorry haha.
I am soo happy that there is a thread about Shpongle!!! Nothing lasts but nothing is lost has to be my favorite album, if you haven't checked out their dj set you def. should go see them, most of the time Raja Ram is not there but when I went in 2010 I believe to knoxville Simon Posford was there, and I got to get a picture with him after the show!! Lets just say I walked on air for about a couple of months after that...haha. Was and still is my favorite band to go and see and plan on seeing them in Pittsburgh on March 29th. they have tour dates out for 2012! SO GO GO GO and see them!!!
O and I forgot to answer how I heard of them, a friend of mine introduced me to Shpongle, and I've been obsessed ever since
I would sell my soul for a chance to see them live!! lol Sorry about the multiple post, just saw that comment about seeing Shpongle live and it needed to be said
Simon Posford talking about several things, including how they create their music: http://www.maps.org/news-letters/v22n1/v22n1_16-18.pdf
I was at a show in Milwaukee, but I only found it interesting for about 30-minutes....not saying I don't like it, but I just wasn't feeling the mojo or something.
Tales of the Inexpressible. i first heard shpongle while driving back from a trance party; when i heard the disc again a few days later, i could hardly believe it was the same stuff... still brilliant, but when heard in that altered state of mind, it crossed over into the true sublime! Simon Posford was once asked what he believed was the best thing about life, the universe and everything, and after pondering for a second or two, he said "consciousness."
I got to see Simon live a few months ago in a DJ set. A full band tour is rare, but he was amazing live. Mixed in some Hallucinogen and Younger Brother into the set too. My friend who was with me said it was the best show he's been to.
