What are your experiences/thoughts/myths about HPPD? If you have it, under what circumstances did you acquire it? Is it possible to acquire after a single use, or is a history of uses required? Can one go for years using psychedelics without HPPD only to get it after one trip later?

    I'm very interested.

I have used psychedelics regularly for 2 years and I have never experienced HPPD.

If I take a large dose of something I may get affects for a few days after. Like letters on the TV screen will wiggle, and mild things like that. But it always goes away, and I have taken large doses of things. I have never met anyone with HPPD either.

I have a persistent snow field. It's not a huge deal. A bit annoying at times, a bit fun at others. Kills my night vision. Normal optical events like blue field whateveritscalled, tend to be very easy for me to trigger and more intense than the next dude. I did way too much acid as a teenager and have always felt that cid had been the cause.

My snow is still going strong after almost two decades. I maybe do psychedelics once a year now, so that certainly encourages persistence. I seem to be going through a decided peak in intensity since I did a dose of iboga rootbark powder a few months back.

I have it and I haven't really tripped that often in comparison with other people. I've tripped shrooms maybe 2 or 3 times a year for the past few years. I see streams of light coming from car headlights and streetlights and stoplights always have a glow around them. Its actually not nearly as bad as it used to be; I haven't tripped in over a year so its starting to go away.

I have it. The visual snow doesn't bother me except when I'm trying to stargaze. The depersonalization is what fucking sucks about it. It's one of the worst feelings I've ever experienced. On an LSD trip a year ago, I got this feeling that everything was ultimately meaningless and there was no escaping the cycle of death/birth and it was just shitty. Months after the trip, I would begin to get those feelings again. They went away after a while, but they came back a few months ago. It might have been because I used 2C-I and 5-MeO-DALT, both of which were so low in dose I didn't feel a thing.

Ann Shulgin experienced something extremely similar to me, except it lasted only a week. It's written about in PiHKAL. She was testing one of Sasha's compounds and basically stayed in a plus two for a week. The feeling was like the one I just described, an unfeeling universe. She did a lot of inner work and tried 2C-B, and came out of it completely back to normal. A person on the Depersonalization Community forums claimed to be healed from HPPD and or DP/DR by periodic ayahuasca sessions, with a shaman.

Right now I'm sort of regaining equilibrium from my encounter with derealization. I e-mailed a psychologist known for his work with psychedelics about my experience. He said there were examples of people being bettered by psychedelics who had problems originally caused by psychedelics, but it was risky. He thinks my issue is psychological and can be explored. I e-mailed a different psychologist who thinks I have a genetic-predisposition to experience negative feelings after psychedelic use. So he thinks I'm just not built for psychedelics. I hope that isn't the case, but I can live without them if need be.

I'm regaining equilibrium from my last encounter with derealization. If I choose to trip again, I will be trying to get to the bottom of this issue, and I hope to do some deep inner healing type of things. I will update you all when the time comes. I'm interested in hearing other people's experiences.
