Never. Why would we want to be a part of a self important, arrogant, country that gets on the nerves of pretty much the entire world? I know some pretty decent Americans fine enough, but country wise I'd sooner the UK actually become a part of India or China, atleast they have an interesting and deep history and culture. Most of the Americans I know want out of America because and this is what they've told me, it's crap, and land of the "free" their 'ass'.

Actually having been to the US I'd say food is much of a muchness, pretty similar if your just counting things from fast food joints and resturaunts and cheaper food stores. Not surprising as ASDA and Walmart are one and the same apparently. Next time you come to visit ask for some proper home cooked sunday roast from a native. :)

I think britan should be chopped up and made colonies under iron-fisted scottish and irish rule.

I agree Britain is just not pulling it's weight any more, we should secede all our sovereignty to the Scots or Irish. :D

Mind you I am biased as an Englishman, and we are shit. :)

I think we are doing just fine as individual countries............ Besides, then I'd have to figure out what a farthing is worth.

I don't care about the quality of the bath they run the english, but do hope it involves as many centuries of repression, racism, cold blooded murder and genocide, imperialism, and theft, as the past few have involved for the scots and irish at the hands of the brits.

    America is far too arrogant.

In school there was one year devoted to what they called "western civilization". It went from Greece to 1980's (old text books) Europe all in one year. But in 12 years of public education about 10 of them had a class about the few hundred years of American history.

Eastern Civilizations only got one semester, not even a full year.

I think it sort of is another state, it seems unavoidable that we will be much like them.. How different the rest of the world is inside a spectrum of all life, which we should all grasp as 'potentially' us, bonds us together as linguistically similar.. No matter what we do.

I am not grumbling, I love the fact that hollywood exists to enjoy, even if it bends our 'state' ..Heh. Though I cannot enjoy movies any-more I still am glad I could once.

I am being more American today than most, I ceased paying my TV licence, since I only watch a show once a month on my PC... I am not paying £12 for it! This is not some kind of statement, its how my life is with my memory issues.. I get round to this too often as an idea, I might just flog the whole damn Freeview receiver again.. though its nice to grab the one show sometimes, even if I do not completely get to focus on it. I recorded a years worth of things I wanted to watch and only actually watched about 10 things.. Its going to take ten years to watch one years interesting bits. (LSD IN LARGE QUANTITIES CAN CAUSE THIS KIND OF THING EVENTUALLY BTW)

Please could you stop ripping Tony Blair? His job is harder than you seem capable of comprehending, Lies are spouted about his motives too, far too often.

    Shakti,

The US is huge and there are little pockets of it where life can be decent, hip, green, balanced and there are parts of it that are awful.

The UK is not all green and lovely either, but I had the oddest sense of being "home" in some areas. I like Cornwall, but I admit that I have not seen much of rural life except in Kent and Cornwall, passed through Devon real fast, but that's about it.

I hope you thrive there in every sense of the word!
