If your going to use store bought manure id suggest using a seive to screen out all the compost that is usally present in store bought manure. See if you cn find black cow compost its the best store bought for mushies.

Find a place beneath some tress that is shaded most of the day dig a hole and mix the spawn you are going to need to grow before you start this. Mix the spawn with manure or expanded coir and cover lightly with some dirt from the hole you dug. Its prolly too late in the season to start this tho even in TX

I would recommend you start with making a bunch of grain spawn.

Then get your compost.... You have to be careful of the kind of store bought manure you get. Some will work while others are not composted well enough and can contain to much ammonia which is toxic for your fungi. My advice would be to get some black cow compost like previously mentioned or if you can find it (I highly recommend this option) get some worm castings from your local hydroponic store. ( it comes per sieved and is always perfectly composted).

    I would then making a bunch (20 dry pounds) of 50/50 manure/coconut
fiber mix and hydrate it to field capacity and lightly pack it into foil
baking pans with a lid and bake them @180F for four hours. After the
compost mix cools mix it with your grain spawn and cover tightly with
tin foil and leave it of 7-10 days to colonize.

Lastly find a nice shady spot under a tree or some bushes and dig a a shallow hole (4-6 in deep). Line the bottom with moist cardboard and fill with your colonized compost and top with moist cardboard and lay down 3 inches of strawnon top to hold in moisture.

Water every few days and pick mushrooms as they come up. Every year remove what is left of the straw and cardboard and mix in some
fresh compost and cover again and it will keep producing for many years.

I know this seems alot more labor intensive then just dumping some old
manure imto a hole but your success rate will be greatly improved if you colonize the manure first before putting it outside.

I have had great results using a brand call 'Moo Doo',composted cow manure..It sure is black, doesnt smell..And Ive have NOT pasturized(heated) any time Ive used it,even in my fruiting chamber for casing Ive had good luck..There are many simple ways,I just make sure everything I use(untensils, hands, containers ect...)are extremely clean, wipe all with rubbing alcohol and go for it..Thats just me..I like to experiment. Most work, some dont..Ive still had no luck with coffee grounds.Though alot have had luck.
    Good luck...PEACE
