Am I the only one that feels this way? Don't you just want to stand up and raise some hell? Or is everyone simply content to sit around on their ass and punch a bunch of words into a keyboard like they're protesting or something?
I didn't think there were any "real" protestors that thought like this. During the RNC, whenever the protests were reported on by CNN or something, they said exactly what you just said: "It appears that the protestors are only here because they want to protest, but they don't care what its about." Good job making us look bad
^oh I agree heartily. The media has mis-represented every single protest, ever. Their job is not to bring the real issues to the forefront so that people can make their own decisions. Their job is simply to try and sway the public mindset one way or the other. Thus far I'd say they've done a pretty good job of that. You're right. My original statement makes protesters look bad. I'd had a barrel of coffee and after reading about several things (the id, etc....) I was in one hell of tizzy. had we been sitting in a coffee shop somewhere,I would have simmered down after some discussion So, it was more of a 'yelling about it' than anything else. On the same note though, I encourage all who have something to say to go out and say it through getting involved. There are plenty of places around the internet to find out how to get involved or even just start something locally. Stand up and be counted. A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition
Well said Pear Tree. There are tons of opportunities to take action and make a difference in the world. Even if it's small steps, it's intent and energy in the right direction. I too find myself frustrated at the lack of support with environmental issues in my community. (small as it may be) Regardless, I have to believe that my actions make a difference to at least one person out there, and that they too may get up and out there to stand for what they believe in.
I disagree that his initial post makes protestors look bad, or maybe I just don't care right now. I am having many of the same feelings, and you should see my mom swear at Rumsfield. There is stuff being planned, people are doing things, find out what they are and get involved. If you have money, there are media outlets like "Democracy Now" that are trying to spread their influence- http://www.democracynow.org/
Cob, I think most people feel powerless. What can we do against an administration that ignores all protests? I preach the truth. That is my form of legal protest. I certainly do not want to see anyone against the Bush administration get hurt or in trouble. Like Rodney King said, "Can't we all just get along?" http://www.project-mayhem.ndo.co.uk/homework.htm

I'll bump it me-self. Passion has been dispersed into a marketable commodity subsequent to a t-shirt design. Is this what HPPIES are about? I think not. we, the hippie, the curmudgeon, the vagabond, and the bum are what is left of a realistic society, the rest is covered in sloppy goo. Do you want to be covered in shitty goo? Who wants to be covered in shit, raise your hand.(lots of shit covered hands). We all know it's a lovely smell. Raise some hell.
