I got an account here just now becasue I want some insight into a problem I'm trying to riddle out. How much of the horrible things we hear about in day to day life are true, and how many are false conspiracy theories? I'm not talking about obvious things like wealth inequaility, but things you hear about the US becoming a police state. On one hand you've got the government telling us outright laws we all know are bullshit (exmp: marijuana is illegal to protect you, or we are at war to protect the population) and on the other hand you have stories about concentration camps, forced population depletion, and drones flying over the country. Obviosuly the truth must exist somewhere in the middle, but how is it possilbe to judge what is true or false? I can walk out my door and see horrible, horrible things hidden in plain site, like drug prohibition and loss of privacy, but images of a V for Vendetta/1984 type of Western society just seems too romantic. Governments and corporations obviously do some fucked up stuff, but how much truth is there to stories about Wall Street banks ammasing a private military force, or how Homeland Security had purchased millions of hollow bullets? (I'm not American btw) I really wish I could get some perspective on this from someone who lived through, say, the rise of Nazism. Nazism and our current Western crisis certainly have parallels, but do you think it could happen on a much larger scale within the States? Britian is a little more believable, but even then you have to sift truth from fiction. Where do you start? Thanks!!! Hope for some good discussion

But then I hear someone talking about the lizard people and cults and all this shit, Theres no way I believe in a New World Order, but what about domesticlly? How far could things go? Are the elites (the politicians and rich CEOS, bankers etc) really that smart and well-organized, or are they scared shitless by things like the Occupy protests?
I know I've read and researched all this-I'm sure this is factual. I am definatly with the Occupy movement and have been doing a lot of studying over the past year, so I am aware of things like the drug war, the erosion of civil liberties, governments forigen policies. I'm mostly thinking about the more controversial topics, like this Concentration camp stuff. I don't believe everything I read/watch immediatly.

Alot of conspiracy theories can easily be government propaganda to discredit the real ones. Ron's right. The borders are not being guarded as they should be. At least that's my recollection. I recall a couple of border guards who were sent to prison for wounding an illegal immigrant in the butt for trying to drive a van with something like 800 pounds of pot in it across the border and running it into a ditch and then trying to escape. The smuggler was given free hospitalization here in the U.S. Can you believe that? The border guards got something like ten year prison sentences!! yeah, I saw on youtube that in some state like Arizona or something, there's a patch of land where they put signs up saying Americans should stay out of there, there's violent drug smugglers. But I forgot what the video was called, as that was months ago.
I know, and it's scary!! It's more than the government being afraid of OWS, it's about them asserting power over the people. They want us to be stupid and content, or aware and afraid. However, if you're aware you shouldn't be afraid. We can remain peaceful, they will expose themselves as the monsters they are.
Off topic, but not many Americans know about the drug wars going on in Mexico, mainly because the drug cartels routinely kill journalists. This is an example of the drug wars spilling over us borders. It's really fascinating to me, I've been reading a lot about it lately. It's rather sickening too because it's being fueled mostly by American demand, which of course goes back to American drug policy.
