what-ho chaps! as is tradition, this Saturday me and a group of friends will be watching the spectacular smorgasbord of banality that is the eurovision song contest, the object of the evening being to drink until the music becomes pleasant, a not inconsiderable task. to add fun to the proceedings, we tend to draw a country each, invest two pounds into a jackpot and the winner pockets the cash (which is promptly spent on alcohol, which is shared, thus rendering the victory more symbolic than financial). anyway, as is also tradition (and enforced with an almost religious zealotry by certain members of the group) dressing in a way which symbolises the country to which your hopes of victory are attached is mandatory. by supreme god fortune, i've drawn the UK this year, any suggestions for a costume? bear in mind that i have next to no money. what cheap attire best sums up this sceptered isle for you?
The Pearly Kings first sprang to mind for me. Then the traditional farmer, plaid and flat caps and all. Both could turn into pricey costumes though. But since you've been lucky enough to land the UK, why not go as you?
gicen lack of funds and time, its looking like i'll just go as meself, either that or see what i can make outta cardboard, i dunno...
