I usually go camping in this country but this year my husband has suggested France because of lack of success with the weather in the UK for the past 3 yrs. He then surprised me by suggesting a naturist site. We both enjoy being nude in the house & garden and have no issues with nudity in the house or around our children. I'm really nervous to do this as I am large lady with a typical baby belly & boobs & am terrified that only beautiful people go nude because they have no hang ups about their body image. I really want to just say sod it & book the site but have this fear that I will get there & be surrounded with gorgeous people & be stuck in my tent the whole time whilst hubby & the kids go off to play. I love the outside as mother nature has created this wonderful world for us explore but what if I cant get the confidence to be as nature intended. Please tell me I'm nuts as the site we've seen looks absolutely amazing. Cheers guys :sunny:
All people are beautiful. The people you see in commercials and on billboards belong to an extreme minority, symmetrical faces made even more aesthetically pleasing by photo manipulation, with young and often unhealthily thin bodies. I'd say such people probably have just as many hangups about their body as anyone else. It's kind of like people not wanting to go to the gym because what if everyone is super fit and healthy and I'll stand out? .. Well, people go to the gym to GET fit & healthy. I'm no naturist, but I'm sure the people who would book a holiday at such a spot also enjoy being nude, and from my understanding that's what naturism is all about - being nude, not seeing others nude.
Hi Cheekymama I can see where you are coming from but you really have absolutely nothing to worry about. Naturists come in all shapes, ages and sizes and very few of us have even approaching "ideal" bodies. As naturists we do not judge each other ever though we may sometimes judge ourselves. Ask yourself if you feel out of place clothed amongst clothed people; well naked amongst naked people you will be just the same. I promise you that within a few seconds you will feel totally relaxed so just go for it and enjoy yourself. :sunny: P.S. Many of these camp sites sites are clothing optional so if there are times when you don't want to be nude you can be covered. In practice many of us find it much nicer being nude so we tend to be nude as much as and as long as we can even when almost everyone else is clothed. The beauty of clothing optional is that no-one cares. This also means that you don't have to go nude until you feel you really want to but you will want to sooner than later.
You really must be comfortable with yourself, but you will find very few fashion model nudists and as was mentioned above take your time and get comfortable!
I totally agree with each & everyone of you but unfortunately we live in a society where we are judged so much on our appearance that if you don't fit the "mold", then for some of us, it's quite a daunting thing to do something different. Thank you for taking the time to respond to me though, I really do appreciate it and am swaying more towards "buggar it, let's just do it"!! Thanks all x
Yes, it's all about overcoming limits... especially self imposed ones. Go for it... keep us posted! DrStve
Words to live by, there (expect the part about lack of confidence). I think that in Britain or America naturists would hold onto the idea of the human body as part of nature, and there'd be no expectation that we're getting naked to show off our perfect body; we do it because we're not ashamed of our im-perfect body! Pardon my racism, but I'm not so certain about the French. I'm sure they'd talk the same line, but they have a reputation for never losing the idea that image is important. Or perhaps that's got some truth in general, but among French naturists, everyone's equally welcome and nobody ever feels embarrassed by what nature gave them, and good for the naturists if so. If you know anyone who's been to a French resort, you should ask about this aspect of it. But the concept of "buggar it, let's just do it" is definitely the best approach.
Well, I've done it. Booked our very first naturist holiday to France. I have 10 weeks to lose 8 stone aaarrrggghhh
