i see that going vegetarian is a good way to respect your earth and a healthy choice, but meat is in our food pyramid for a reason, right? i'm interested to hear your thoughts on the subject. eace:
Going vegetarian is a good idea for some people, and an unthinkable idea to others. The bad idea, is to push your choice onto others. It's personal choice, with no wrong or right answer.
The best thing to do is research both sides of the issue. There are benefits to both sides. I actually grew up vegetarian but included fish, eggs, and milk products (never drank straight milk though). I started including meat when I was 18 and think it is a much healthier choice overall. Follow the money when you do your research.
if you are going to be a vegetarian, you will probably need to support your diet with meditation and some exercise, especially yoga or qi gong. maybe some vitamins too if you eat meat, maybe try to keep the portions small. there can be some benefits to meat, but try not to eat more than you need to
i read this thread and it reminded me of a stand up comedian that once said this; "during a conversation about global warming i was told a major contributiing is cow farts (methane), he was ask what he was contributing to protect the ozone layer and the earth, and he replied, im eating the cows......
You should know that cows are "produced" to be eaten... and the are the major contributing factor to the depletion of the ozone layer. I recommend you the documentary "meat the truth". I think is online and for free in youtube, it explains it quite good. It's about the direct relation between produce meat (for "human use") and global warming.
I just found it, I recommend it, it's really interesting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uTJsZrX2wI&pxtry=1
in the animal kingdom all predators have eyes that look forward, all prey have eyes on the side of their head......i doubt thats a design flaw. i have never had to sneak up on a green bean.
I think all the apes (mostly all them) have the eyes looking forward and nearly none of them eat any animal bigger than an insect. I think it's not about how we are or body is dessigned... it's totally real that we can live without eat animals even if our body is partially prepared to eat meat, so now we can choose the kind of live we want.
Gorillas Wouldn't Be Alone in Eating Monkeys If gorillas do eat meat, they wouldn't be the first great apes to do so. Chimpanzees and their bonobo cousins are known to hunt and eat other mammals, including monkeys. (See "'Loving' Bonobos Seen Killing, Eating Other Primates.") Plus, "most herbivores can digest meat quite well," said study co-author Michael Hofrieter, a geneticist also at the Max Planck Institute. "It just does not work the other way around."
"You all do realize that this person isn't here and never did come back?" he said, while standing in the corner facing the wall, in an empty room. LOL
im with retired hippie, bust out the porterhouse, bring on the bacon bit covered salad, and the loaded baked tater, lol
damn, scorpio kenny just pointed out that the "thread starter" has'nt came back, were all talking to ourselves, but a topic that pertains to cow farts and brussel sprouts.....i can't pass it up. I just opened a newspaper and b.king (fast food) is now offering a BACON FLAVORED SUNDAE on the menu. its a photo of a bowl of ice cream with a piece of bacon sticking out. my mind is officially made up, if bacon flavored ice cream is good enough for the youth of our day, its good enough for me. lol
