I think Steve is just suffering from Lead Singer Disease. (LSD) Less about the cash, which I'm certain he's rolling in. This is about attention and keeping his face in the public eye as much as possible. Of course, he probably refers to all that as "evolving", "branching out" or some such term.
I never look at Aerosmith the same anymore . Tyler is hurting the brand , in selling out for as much cash as he can get . I'm getting to where I can't stand him anymore . And it's sad for a band with such an iconic generation legacy . I saw them many times in concert way back when . They always put on a great show . While never heavy enough for my taste , I always liked them . They had some great tunes . I still have my Toys in the attic album . And they deserve respect for their contribution for the music genra of the 70s and 80s . They are one of rock's / metal but really rock best selling bands of all time . There is no reason they / he needs money . And he is the only one from the band I see doing this . It's clear to me his ego needs checked . You stick with what made ya , and go home with who brought ya to the dance . His appearance on that stupid show , and the commercials . COME ON ! Make music and head off into the sunset ,like any other respectable rock star . Why tarnish a proud legacy ? I don't know maybe i'm getting old , but I remember the magic of those days . The 70s and 80s were the pinnacle of rock/metal . There will never be another , so let it stand for the great times they were . "Dream on " lyrics seems a perfect fit for this thread . Anyway just my opinion .
Uhm... why is Tyler the only one of Aerosmith who's used in a commercial? He's the only one who will be recognized instantly of this band. By the way, the only way to stay as legendary as in his heyday is to retreat from public appearances as a whole. Look at Golden earring (there are lots of examples but this band just came to mind because they're promoting a new album), it's cool they are still doing their thing but they are mainly performing for a nostalgic crowd. Same with Aerosmith I guess. Their good stuff remains good but the performers are getting old and frankly most of the time their songwriting as well. Everything changes, so the magic often withers. Especially if the artist does not know when to quit.
I thought it was kinda funny. Though I didn't have much respect for him to lose, so.... If it were, say Robert Plant, then I would be disgusted and appalled. However Ive come to expect such things from Tyler
I can't remember where i heard this, think it was on tv. It was talking about how famous people run out of money. They used toothpaste as an example. If its 2 in the morning and you need toothpaste, you have to call your mamger (which costs$) who then calls the driver (which costs$) who then goes to pick it up (which costs more $) then deliever it. From when the first call was made upon delivery that toothpaste can cost several thousand dollars. This is just one example. When your famous and cant do anything on your own because you will get attacked by fans and the paparazzi, you have to hire someone to do EVERYTHING for you..if you are not careful that money will vanish like it would in a bon fire...
yeah, Bob Dylan is really the only person I can think of who is cool enough to sell out a bit and still remain a living legend....remember those Victoria Secret commercials? Yeah, that annoyed me but it didn't really make me lose respect for Bob Dylan. After all, he's old and what older gentleman would pass up an excuse to be surrounded by some of the most beautiful, half naked women in the world for a few hours?

Steven Tyler hasn't done anything good since Night in the Ruts. It's as if the shittyness of post-sobriety Aerosmith and American Idol wasn't enough.
Tyler The Tool should take a lesson or 2 from Neil Young. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSSvzCNBvlQ"]This Note's For You (Video) - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQxYfcKCpbY"]Neil Young ~ Piece of Crap~ ( Unreleased version) + vIDeo - YouTube
1977 for me and saw Aerosmith three times and would go again. I think the commercial was excellent and anyone who doesn't like Tyler has got to be a teenie bopper!
I love that commercial. Steve does look like he could do with a burger though with that figure. PLus i'd think he's a tranny if I did not know who Steve Tyler was.
