Made a water bong, want to know if it's safe enough to use

yep, I made my own bong,

I had a standard plastic water bottle for the body, a plastice pen tube,(almost transparent plastic), and a 8mm rachhet for the bowl, I put the choke about half way up the bottle.

I used it once for salvia and blue lotus,

is it safe??

 

no, it's not safe. the rachet may be a harmful metal to smoke out of..i'm not sure of that.

but i do know that the rachet will get hot enough to heat up the plastic pen and release toxic fumes. EVEN IF THE PEN DOESN'T VISIBLY MELT, EVEN IF FLAME IS NOT DIRECTLY APPLIED TO THE PLASTIC PARTS THEY WILL HEAT UP!!

 

8mm rachhet for the bowl.... Is steel, that should be fine as far as metals go for a bowl, but the plastic stem needs to go as per porkstock..... Brass tube there or steel brake line (un-used or well cleaned) would be okay.


Why the cheap crappy water bottle though, you planning to toss this when done?

A friend of mine uses a socket as his one-hitter. It's always in his pocket packed and loaded.

 

When I was an auto mechanic/body man I made all kinds of crazy smoking contraptions out of tools and spare parts..... The "double barrel shotgun" pipe was brutal :2thumbsup:

 

this is like a hit'n'run, I through it out, but it's only a snap to make another one. I was just wondering, water bongs these days are big and hard to stash away from parents

I use joints occaisianally, but they release all lot of smell [to me anyways]
and a bong, hookah, pipe, bowl, is easy to load, a joint takes me for ever to roll

 

Joints are a waste of weed in my opinion. I much prefer my handy little brass pipe for a quick hit.

 

It would be safe if the downstem were metal. Just find a metal pen tube. That being said, i used plenty plastic parts in smoking tools I've made over the years, and im still here. If you use that just hit it quick. Don't let the metal get too hot. Again, this is still not healthy, but it shouldnt cause any immediate issues unless you inhale a lot of plastic fumes.

 

the first hightimes i got in 1998 that was the bong of the month... ha ah ha good for a few use,s. good recycleing.

 

not with the price of weed anymore, when i have homegrown i love to smoke joints. hell with the 50$ an eighth weed a joint costs ya 20 bucks instead of 5. dame inflation..

I get it. I'm a bong person too, just hits harder. But if I had a choice between smoking out of plastic or a joint... I'm gonna take the least toxic route.

 

I sloved the problem, I got a brass tube and put the stainless steel bowl in there, so it should be safe for now,
