It's not the destination, its the journey... So I am new to Colorado (Boulder) and have began my life transformation. long story short,I have been in the corporate grind, rat race, etc. For the past ten or so years.I had everything considered to be the American Dream by the general population. (built a new house, bought a new car, wife, dog, etc.) but was living a unhappy life deep down. So I decided to follow my inner voice...Well I resigned my career, and at the same time my relationship of 15 years (married 2 years) went to a divorce. We both knew it was coming for a while, but were in denial. I gave her the house and everything, packed up what I could fit in my SUV and went on a 3 month road trip, funded by my cashed out 401k. I literally camped the entire trip, not one motel, and a campground or river when I needed a shower.I was fortunate enough to do a bunch of solo backpacking,in some absolutely peaceful and wonderful places. This all really opened my mind and made me realize what is important in life. I never made it back to Ohio,I wound up settling near Boulder,Colorado and could not be happier. I have become a lot better of a person, and left all of the negativity and the rat race behind. It has been a challenge,I shoveled snow all winter, did some landscaping early spring, and I just landed a full time job in an organic bakery. It's just enough to get by,but I am so much happier and a much happier person which feels so much better than a big paycheck. Well, that's pretty much me:sunny: If there is anyone out there in the area,or not, feel free to message me and say Hi. I would really like to build a new friend base of like minded people. All of my old friends think I am crazy, but some seem to be a little envious too. Little do they know that this is the first phase..... My goals are to get some land and go off of the grid, and build a small cabin or a yurt in the next few years.Solar power, gardening, water collection, sustainable living.....
