    Hey everyone,
I'm really stressed at the moment and would love some help. A bit over 48 hours ago, I along with a couple of mates ate shrooms. They had picked them and I came down to help I.D them. Obviously I'm far from an expert but they looked like perfect goldtops, Nipple on top, Brown gills, goldie brown top/ stalk and blueness everywhere. So we decided to eat them, it's been 48 hours since we ate them and I am very unnerved. I have this really faint and minor but weird feeling in my stomach that I don't notice unless I'm thinking about it. It's not at all painful and I think it's purely because I am so stressed and continually keep thinking of my stomach. I'm not showing any other symptoms of bad mushrooms, I have not vomited, had diarrhoea, dizziness or anything like that. Just the weird feeling in my stomach like when your stressed. How long does it normally take for bad mushrooms to start affecting you? I know when I pulled the shrooms from the bag, they were also a few death caps in there that they had picked without knowing they were poisonous. I threw them away instantly but is it dangerous to have them in the same bag as shroooms that we ate later? I have had shrooms a few times before and know that the ones I ate 48 hours ago tasted like normal shrooms. Is it normal to have a slight discomfort in your stomach? I bought some Liver cleansing pills with thistle in them for good measure.
Also here is a pic of one of the more suspicious looking shrooms we ate the other night, mainly because it wasn't pinched and didn't have big blue spots. But as you can see there is definitely some blueness

Lesson number one here.. never eat mushrooms that you're not 100% sure of what they are.

When you say gold tops, do you mean psilocybe cubensis? Because cubensis should have dark purple spores and gills, not brown.

In any case, from what I've understood it can take hours to multiple days for symptoms of mushroom poisoning to start showing, depending on what type of mushroom it is and what poison it contains.

Nevertheless, it sounds like you're just stressing so far anyway. I don't think death caps in the same bag would make a difference. However if you're really unsure of what you ate, then maybe you should go get yourself into a hospital and see what they have to say.

In the future, take the time to properly identify your mushrooms rather than just eating them with the faint idea that it "could be right". If you don't know what to look for then take multiple pictures of the mushroom along with a spore print and post it online for someone knowledgeable to look at.

Thanks for the reply man, yes I know it was incredibly stupid but I have learnt from the whole situation. Looking back I'm certain they were all Gold tops. It's almost been 53 hours since and I feel fine, I was just really stressed.

    Yes, It's not abnormal.

I know for sure that these blue spots can appear on psychedelic shrooms as well. Had it on some shrooms I bought and also on shrooms a friend grew himself with a do it yourself growkit he got from an online store.

Where were the picked? manure enriched soil? Hopefullly they ere not picked on wood or in a area full of pine trees or else you could be fucked.

you mentioned death caps which do not grow in the same habiat of even the same season as Ps. cubensis.

Did you take a spore print?

You should never eat a mushroom without first taking a spore print.... that is a key identifying factor.

make sure someone knows about it ...you should be ready just in case you get sick..have someone ready to take you in to a hospital just in case

i seen someone eat poison mushrooms once and it was not something i would ever want to see again

it was about 12 hours after eating that he got real sick if i remember right

Well it's been 66 hours and I'm still fine. I have a brother in the medical situation who knows all about the situation and thinks I'm fine. I know this was the stupidest thing ever, at least I have learnt from it.

It's been 95 hours and I'm still not showing any symptoms of poisoning, except for a bit of intergestion and mild constipation which I blame on the Liver Flushing pills I've started taking. Does this sort of time frame put me in the clear or not yet?

Although it sounds good that you survived, there are things to consider for next time.

Bluing is not a guarantee that they are active and not toxic, there are some mimics that will go blue for a different chemical reason.

There are some cubes that will give a brown spore and gill, but you have to know what is native to your area. The Red Boy is popular cube being home grown these days with a brown gill and red spore but I think it's origin is from Columbia. Cube caps have many colours that they come in, so the golden top and nipple is only a guideline, not a firm rule.

Get familiar with what is native to your area. Find out if there are toxic mimics to the ones that you wish to pick and eat.

Good luck and have a Shroomy Day !!!
