Just wanted to hear it from people who have gone through it. what are withdrawals like from opiates? What do you feel physically and mentally? examples that happened to you? what kind of things did it force you to do?
if you search through these forum topics there is quite a few postings about people talking about withdrawls and what they're like. they are horrible and just be happy u havent experienced it (no fun)
ever see that show ''house''?...in every episode they show a dude puking blood in between moans? its like that
The first time I literally thought I was catching the flu. And it even mellowed out after about a week, like the flu. Then it happened the next month, and I realized what it was. But that was in the beginning of it, a few years ago. Now when It happens it's worse, with things like insomnia that's hard to cure even with Xanax, and RLS (restless limb syndrome) which is a weird, squirmy type of energy in the nerves that make you constantly want to twist around and stretch. And of course cravings. Mental cravings as well as body cravings. The duration and intensity depend on the drug and level of addiction, with Vicoden withdrawal peaking at about 3 days, then starting to taper off at about day 7. I don't have any experience with H, but I think it tapers off at about the 5th day, but it's more intense. With Methadone it lasts a lot longer. But from now on I'm using Gabapentin for it, which pretty much knocks it out.
it feels like hell, I've posted like 3-4 posts on withdrawels. Just feels like a terrible flu you just can't shake, lots of pain, and even more if you have had pain prior to the pills (i.e. actually taking the painkillers for a legit reason) Feels like everything is hurting or just not well. Sometimes can just start vomiting, some people get the runs, but usually I get withdrawels after a long bender, so I'll be dry and empty as the opiates supress my hunger and luckily don't need to find out about that part haha. Anyways RLS is Restless Leg Syndrome, read about it, and that's what an addicted user (whether medically "dependent" or addicted junkie) feels when the opiate/opioid leaves the body. You can try to sleep, but once it gets quiet and peaceful, you feel something in your arm, almost a light tickle, or something and you slowly shake your arm, as it builds up almost into a painful sensation, followed by nearly involuntary shaking to make the feeling go away for about a couple seconds. Next thing you know, you're thrashing around in your bed, feeling terrible, in pain, wanted to vomit, shit or just die. Then a week later, or two.. you start feeling normal, and you want to start taking some more substances to make you feel exactly as you did about 12 hours before the hell of withdrawels started, and the cycle continues. And this is the kiddie friendly version ;]
depressed, mood swings, no energy, the shits, restlessness, runny nose, do ya need more its just like waking up with the flu. every moring.
And not only that but the anticipation of going through wd's sucks as well. Like when you have a week until your refill is due and you're down to your last 10-20 pills. It's a depressed, sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach, and you don't even really enjoy those last 10-20. Then the wd's kick in and you WISH you still had those 10-20 pills. It sucks. And on top of everything, you have to also deal with the pain you were prescribed the pills for in the first place. And long term use of opiates makes you even more sensitive to that pain.
horrible anxiety pains you never know you had sleeplessness shaking low energy nausea sweating hot flashes cold flashes body temp doesnt feel right increased irratibility and its hard to eat
What all the above said, along with thoughts of suicide when you cant sleep for days, not everyone is the same, but its something i wouldnt wish upon anyone,if anyone knows they will be going through withdrawals its best to check out the thomas reicipe and take the advice of others to help them through the nightmare called withdrawals, because you will never forget it once you experience it.
Kratom will work for a low end user. Personally I have never felt relief from of any sort from kratom, not to say that others' don't find it useful.
I've only ever experienced mild withdrawals from using morphine every day for a few weeks. Imagine that pain you get after intense exercise and multiply it by 10, the shits, restlessness, insomnia, leg jerks that are fucking annoying as hell, lasted just under a week. A full blown withdrawal would be way worse.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think the duration and severity of wd's are related to the half-life of the drug. The longer the half-life, the longer the wd's last, and also the longer the half-life, the less severe the wd's are. Of course there are other factors involved too. But that would explain why methadone has a longer wd period than say, hydrocodone.
I have the same wd's mentioned now day 7. Don't have access to L Tyrosine but now giving Imodium a shot. I was given a perscription of Gagapentin, still no sleep and restless all night. This is hell......HELP?
Happydude nailed it, it all lies in the Half life of the drug you are withdrawing from. I am on subs and will be coming off in about a month or so, I dont expect anything less than 5-6 days of acute withdrawal, however jumping off at 1mg/day, the acute stuff shouldnt be too severe. I have also jumped off of 300mgs of Oxy before, and that was 3 days of fucking hell followed by major anxiety plus some depressio! Make no mistake, Opiates make you pay full price for admission and departure! AK, what are you withdrawing from, daily dose and how long had you been using?
Thanks for checking in...I hosed my back up in October of last year which started me taking Hydrocodone, then to Percs and Dilodide (excuse the spelling) Had Surgery April 30th. I stayed on perc (10mg @ 8 a day) then last week I had to go cold turkey....F'n brutal!!!!Last night did the Imodium along with Xanax 1 1/2 pills of 1mg, Valerian Root and St Johns Wort....Helped but still no sleep. I have a Doc appt today...I will check in and share his take on it. AK
I just saw that you had a script for Gabapentin. For future reference, it hides withdrawal symptoms at higher than prescribed doses. So take 2000-3000mg per day. You should barely notice the wd symptoms. You will notice the effects of the Gabapentin though. The first day you get pretty buzzed from it, but after that it takes a lot more. But you don't want to get high from it, just survive the wd's. When it's all over gradually taper down the Gabapentin dosage. If you don't you'll have insomnia.
