Damn Fritz, I had a good multimeter from when I was at DeVry, I gave it to James down the road before I left. Wish I knew.
Hey Chris, sounds great, here's an idea for ya, IC.org lists like 53 other communes in MO, sometimes they help each other get started with trade labor, gatherings, and maybe even extra supplies...maybe you can contact any that are close to you and work something out. Peace bro
No biggie Bro, I <3 the $15 unit I got from Auto-Zone as a reward for fixin' my friends Truck out in Denver, It just means I'm extra careful regarding who I lend the important shit too. i.e. I have 2 Drawknives, 1 blade will never see another pair of hands besides mine again (yea, till after I'm dead,,, stfu.),,, but the other one can be used by anyone ad I dont care,,,
I want to help, just plane and simple, I want to help. I'm a 18 year old male, can offer all of my effort into physical labor, I am a good problem solver, and I love working with my hands. I love nature and want to be a part of it (grew up in NYC, not enough nature). I would do whatever it takes to earn my keep. get back to me
Questions like those are generally best left for visits to be discussed I think, more often than not,,, unless you're dealing with blazing facist "do as I say & just say no" types, then it's best if they're just up front about that fact ahead of time. :cheers2:
I have a travel trailer, is there somewhere I can hook up? I can do domestic and general manual labor. I actually sew and cook really well, have lots of educationa nd fun times to offer for children too
Hello, I am a 23 year old who has served in the US Army and has done some college. I have found that modern society is no longer a place for peaceful humans to be. I am strong and young, I have hundreds of books on edible plants, farming, primitive hunting, how to build shelters from the land. You name it, if it deals with living off the grid in any way I have a book on it. I would love to join up and make this really happen. I would bring the books for new comers to use so that they can acquire a trade/task to perform in the commune/tribe. email me if you want to talk more. kingdummett88@yahoo.com
Hi I am interested I can offer some money, hard work ad im dependable. I'd like to speak with you and learn more. Email is PeterAFuentes789@gmail.com
Paganakis5@gmail.com I might be joining Americorps NCCC program, if I get in (past the application stage, just have to wait for the random drawings) I would be busy till next summer. If not, this fall I'll be available. Like King James, I would most likely bring a lot of books, but I don't have a lot that are necessary for survival, I'd be bringing more for entertainment/education. (more self info) The way my mind is wired, I am good at the more advanced/analytic mathematics, very good at problem solving (engineering type things), I also have a good artistic eye, and I am good at creating with my hands (sculptures, small scale building).
OP, I am currently living in northwest Arkansas and would like to know more about what your plans are for the community. I have a profitable skill set that could be of use, so please get in touch.
We are at Yellville, about nine miles north actually. We have great medicines and recreationals so it would be good to know another earth ship community to potentially trade with that is nearby. Best wishes!
Cabals, when you return please send me a message. I'll try to keep track of your thread to see if you come back. I'm a WWOOFer- I travel around the country helping people start and work organic farms. Most of the work I've done has been for communal setups. I've got about six years of experience doing it, and I'd love to come help set up an organic farm at your place to make you more self-sufficient. I'm in the Missouri Ozarks right now, so it's not that far to you. Let me know if you're interested in some help. I've also got some skills in green construction and alternative energy if you're into that kind of thing.
Nice Rutz ~ I do the same basic thing with medical set ups and programs as well as mushroom grows. We are essentially starting over after a fire took the previous above ground house, but you are welcome to visit anytime. Branson is just north of us and Eureka about two hours to the west.
Well, I haven't made any commitments for this fall, winter, or the next growing season yet. I'd be happy to come lend a hand. Send me an email and let's talk about it.
Too heavy already....just if you're around and wanna stop by. We are in no way gonna build rome or change the world we are just out here kickin it. Maybe we should be the site for the shade tree red eyed tribe of kung fu shroomheads playin - that way no one is disappointed Don't get me wrong, I sometimes have 23 hour days with patients to care for, but doc is r-e-t-i-r-e-d watchng what y'all heroes do and eventually the old brothers will die off, so I guess whatever you younger guys do here will be so very cool, but I most likely be layin under a berry bush with a hootie or playin in the blacksmith shop. oh and yeah - if anybody needs help at their site with anything medical and med production setup I'm good to go - not that retired just laid back. I can have yer clinic and medical products on in no time - and then we can sample the fun ones and eat!
Good to see some Ozarkians on here! I'm living about an hour west of Eureka and I'm in Branson every now and then. Living a life of freedom on my own terms has become my top priority at this point. I would love to learn from people who have already made progress with sustainable living off grid and build something together. Feel free to send me a PM and we can talk more. I'm really serious about starting off '13 in the wild and never looking back!
Admittedly we are doign a smaller population more hermitage type reservation but I think we almost have to be like neighbors - we're on about 20 acres just about 12 miles North of Yellville Arkansas so if you are in the 'zarks you got to be like walkng distance. Alcohol is the only thing where we would hope gys would "be reasonable" but we don't have any problems with anything else and we grow a lot of things I would love to visit y'all sometime and since people are curenado@yahoo.com if you like and ever need medical info/supplies. We are more like other critters living in the forest than establishing a subdivision. I am just glad to see so many folks doing this because I figure they will still be around to trade with next year and no place is an island. Oh God sorry I already pretty much said all that huh? Trainwreck, I tell ya... edit#2: another thing that is cool about this is that when someone gets to a site it may not be for them and with all those other communitites out there they have not gone to the end of the earth only to find they were looking for another place - there are 50 some other sites to check out in walking distance. THAT is something we didn't have "in the day".
Hello all!! This is cabals, back from Europe and chomping at the bit to get to the woods. Currently planning a trip to acreage and get the area laid out. It is going to be amazing (I hope))))) I have just read all the posts by nearby communities and thank you all in advance. I will most certainly need and want any help offered. I'm currently attaining supplies for the main structure and water supply situation. I am taking soil samples from several areas to locat the best place for the garden. We are on our way friends. Hope to start invitations and work soon. Thanks everyone. Cabals. Chris
