Im in the process of working to save up enough funds to possibly move out to Australia. Im 18 and am looking for more info regarding places to live, costs, and employment opportunities...I haven't planned a whole lot, but the passion is there.....and hopefully once I get everything worked out...ill be off! So if anyone could provide me with a little more info, that would be awesome!

    thanks.

employment opportunities: I'm not the best person to give advice out on this, seeing as though I don't have a job yet. But hey, there's always Coles! . . . ick

places to live: Go to Byron Bay . . . Or Nimbin . . . Do not come here (Blue mtns) . . . unless you move to Katoomba, thats ok.

Costs: If you go to a flat and rent it out with someone. . . it would $80-90 in rent . . . a fort night maybe . . . meh, I don't know, forget I said anything.

lol, hope I was some use . . . LMAO

Buy yourself a cheap van such as a Toyota Hi-ace and put a bed in it.Look at the Trading Post, its online.Newspapers usually list only late model vehicles.

Suppose it depends on your antipodean intention (permanent move, gap year, vacation…), but backpacking is a piece of piss, provides plenty of room for spontaneity. Get a visa here: http://www.ahc-ottawa.org/welcome/text.html Check out the working-holiday maker visa; work and travel is where it’s at. Biggest ouch is the cost of the flight. http://www.tntmagazine.com/au/ a handy magazine, should answer most of your questions. Work? Make about $12/hr. picking fruit (if you’re a fruit-picking magician, piece work can pay a grand a week), live in a tent for $40-50/week, which means money is no worry. Hostels are plentiful and cost around $20/night, most of them are clean and fun and offer beer vouchers; big notice boards post menial jobs and rides going every which way. Lotta good people on the road less traveled. And Bilby’s suggestion, your own van, is cool: gas, grass or ass, nobody rides for free!
