i have seen that and have many many times almost ordered it. i love that saying and find it to be rather powerful so thank you grandma. if this is truthful, that is awesome... if not, get a life
For some reason I doubt she was one of the biggest activists, im sure many many people did more than her no offense. I also think that slogan completely sucks, its bland and boring, not catchy at all. "for children and other living things"???? What the hell? It could have been easier, better sounding, and shorter if it said somthing like "War Is Not Healthy For Life" which also sucks but you get the point.
Ah i remeber this one drawing i seen in a 1960's book...it was like a plain feild with flowers and like i dont know what therye called but those masks from the war? like gas masks or something? well it was this human shaped thing made outta sticks and buckets and that mask. and it said 'what if they gave a war, but nobody came' i guess its about the draft..you know, like every1 refusing to go? it was pretty coool.
Some ppl realy are rather good at input that was rather more destructive than cinstructive. Glad for the phrase, and I am not against soldiers in a war for they are following orders. War is simply destructive.
Both of those slogans have always been faves of mine ... and what was that other one about the Air Force having a bake sale? Can't quite remember.
you say that soldiers are just following orders, but they applied to work in the army; job description: kill other humans.
OR Job description: free education - live on a military base. Not all of these men want to kill. Some were just in the military at the wrong time. But, it's sick how many want to kill.
why ya gotta hate, that was unnessecary, if you must be mean at least make sure it somehow benefits something. i think thats awesome someone you know contributed to a good cause. i really like the slogan and ive seen it frequently, i agree with nathan.. one of my friends just got shipped off to iraq, not because he wants to kill but thats basically what you got when you're backed against a wall. i also think we do need somekind of a military, i just think that when you do have a military, you need to understand you must use it only as a very last resort and only in defense.
what a way to look past any socioeconomic position outside of your own comfortable little sphere. that's right judge till the end. high an mighty. mostly high.
That's what I said to stonerbill after having been awake for way too many hours. Stonerbill, I apologize for being so flagrantly abrasive and narrow in my response. boy do I feel like an arse. I will agree that anyone who signs up right now for the mil. surely must know what they're in for regardless of how many candies the recruiter throws at them. Some of the kids who joined up prior to the war though, really didn't understand what they were getting into. Poor, no healthcare, no food, etc.. and along comes the shining recruiter with promises of college and a much better life. All you have to do is hang around for four years or play wargames once a month. To someone in dire straits, it looks good. That's all.
you know whats even more sad? they brainwash these kids to endure all of the mindnumbing and horrifying things they'll have to do. i wont tell you the things my friend has said after visiting on leave so as not to damage any image of him, but hes said some really amazingly appauling things about the whole...scene. things he never would've said without someone in his head telling him what to think. its scary. he was soo different.. he was a wonderful person... they ruined him... its soo sad. i choose to remember him as how he used to be cos thats who he reallyyy underneath whatever they've done to him..
