From afar I thought this was a San Pedro but after taking some cuttings and seeing it up close I'm not too sure. The spines look similar to SP but are quite dark. The ridges are also quite thin.

Can anyone help with identifying it?[IMG]

Its definitely not a san perdo the ridges are too thin. it looks like some sort of variant of trichocereus peruvianus possibly matucana?

The ridges are thin, but it also looks like it could be a bit thirsty, and therefore, shrunken.

But looks to be either pachanoi or peruvianus, or a hybrid thereof.

Are the spines sharp? Most of the SP I've met are harmless, and you can easily grab them without injury. peruvian torch, on the other hand, tends to be VERY sharp, even on the short spines-so sharp there's no way you're grabbing it with bare hands. There's also greater variation in spine length.

For what it's worth, I don't think there's any columnar cacti that will harm you in reasonable doses......... Mescaline containing or otherwise. At least not that you would have gotten your hands on.
