While driving back to my house i noticed that there are about 4 san pedro cacti just outside one of the houses. So now i want to go get some and i was wondering weather i should dig the entire thing out of the ground with the roots and re pant it in my yard, or chop a piece off the top and bright it back up to my house to transplant it. I would rather be able to take the whole thing so i have more, but if taking the whole thing wont grow as well, then i will go with the transplanting. This will be the first time growing a cactus so any tips, help would be greatly appreciated.

Dude, don't your think your mom will notice more if there is a huge like 4 foot tall cactus outside your room? Take a lil' piece, and cook up the rest!

Well good for you. I'm not alone. I scope people yards all the time. I have a nack for finding the shit. Anyways what you want to do is. Make sure the cactus is dark green if you plan on cooking some of it. The yellow is from lack of water and overexposure to sunlight. A shady well lit area with plenty of water works best. regular potting soil works best. all you need to do is cut at least 6in off the top. any part will do. you could cut like four 3in cutting and plant them. no hormones or letting them dry. they will grow. The cuttings take like a year to grow roots and shoots. so be patient. once they are established they grow bulbs out the bottom that take off in full growing stocks. You could just put the cuttings in the ground and eventually they will grow. look at some of the pics i have posted on the cacti delecti forum pachanoi gardens. Take a foot cutting of that and skin it, blend it, boil it, simmer it, strain it, reduce it over low heat to a managable 8oz amount per foot. leave the sire plant alone do not dig it up. Your harvesting will cause new growth and you will be able to return to harvest again next year 2 fold.

i think for soil mix you should use half perlite half cactus soil mix they need semi fast draining soil as that the easiest way to kill peter is over watering. let soil drain throughouly but keep plant from looking anorexic lol the ribs will get skinny and then when it's to skinny will start to get scars and shit and dont water in the winter if it gets could wher eyou live you might not want to plant it out doors. especially if your specimen is small. the smaller and smaller the roots are the more seseptable it is to frostbite/ overheat. blah blah blah

Dont go stealing cacti from peoples front yard, thats really disrespectful i know id be pissed if some kid came and taxed my cacti from my front yard but hey i doubt your going to listen to me....

If you are going to do it dont uproot the whole plant just take a cutting of a foot or so leave it to dry out for about two weeks then shove it in some soil
