Your enthusiasm is obvious and I hope it works out for you.

This might not apply in your situation, but I have relatives and a few friends that I enjoy sending greeting cards and letters to, sometimes gifts. If I had no bank account nor money, I would be unable to obtain a few dollars (or British pounds) to keep up with them. Maybe the commune management will post these letters and such on your behalf.

I hope you get to use your talents and training there, but you might simply be told to hoe weeds, clean latrines and plant beans all day every day.

God forbid that this place closes down, but if the unthinkable happens and everyone gets sent back home empty handed, would you care to start life all over again with no credit history, no job, no money, no clothes, nothing put away for retirement?

They are getting a lot of information from your application.
What documents have they sent you so that you can decide if commune rules are consistent with your values and goals?

I spontaneously joined a commune once,,left everything,,job, people, etc. They drove me around in a VW bus to gather all my things, everything I owned, and it became communal property. (Of course, one of the leaders got first pick on my guitar).

I left after two years, having gradually realized that I had joined an exclusive, isolating cult. Some people never made it out, including Jeremy Spencer, one of the founding members of Fleetwood Mac, when they were just a blues band.

Those who joined, eventually were asked to share their wives, husbands with other members. If they didn't comply, the families would be sent to other "colonies" throughout the world, where they'd possibly never be able to see each other again. Many of the children ended up in "victor camps", where their "rebellious attitudes" would be "exorcised" through beatings, etc.

It was pretty screwed up, but the general population wasn't aware, unless you'd been there a while, and by that time, you'd been brainwashed, subjected to "authority" within the group. It got more and more difficult to leave, after you'd convinced yourself that it was "the best thing going on".

Be careful, and do your homework. Research it a bit.

The commune takes on many different people with different levels of beliefs :) if things go wrong im set up well here my job said there will always be a place for me and I have family that would take me in if all went wrong...as for the bank maybe you are right about that and your advice is welcome maybe I should have savings backed up incase hopefully it won't come to soon in which I would have to use them...the commune only ask for age and what youcan provide to the commune they want you to work 15 hours a week on the land and I will use my knowledge in a free manner if I have a lifestyle in which I can give knowledge for free then il be happy knowing I can help others.

I always learn so much when I read other peoples posts.. Ya know, taking advice from those who have already walked that walk.. I love it.

But yeah, good luck on your journey, I hope all turns out well and may we rightfully live our lives with no regrets!

    Much peace to all, TP

I do not now where or how to begin though is all  i'll continue "doing my homework" on it but if anyone knows a good place for me let me know please! Much appreciated my friends. Peace love freedom <3

If you are willing to live outside California, there is far more to choose from.
