From a poster on another forum. I read the above post on a different site. Most people on that site said that they could not even comprehend thinking in a 'movie like' way. What does the HF think? Just wondering who how you think. Do you think in words, still pictures, movie scenes or anything else?
I think in binary... 010100000110010101100001011000110110010100100000011000010110111001100100001000000100110001101111011101100110010100100001
It depends, I'm mostly a creature of instinct. But the few thoughts I do have are expressed in all of those, sometimes also smells or tastes. For instance, when I looked at your post and read that you were from Tasmania, I immediately pictured this guy.
I don't understand... I always think in both "movies" and words. There is an internal narrative that goes with the images. Unless you're an individual who does not have language, due to something like autism or traumatic brain injury, I would think it would be very difficult to think without words.
I do much of my thinking on a nonverbal level, I wouldn't say most, but a significant amount of plans I have are processed by my brain without language attached. When I think of dinner I understand my hunger without the words ever appearing, and think of dinner completely in pictures and tastes and smells, and the words associated with those foods are an afterthought, often never appearing consciously.
My thoughts are more like concepts and scenarios that sort of flash as completed bits for many things. Very complex issues are broken apart by word/emotion and some other processes that I can't explain.
Like any other man. You send him to the grocery store for cereal and he comes back with beer and pop tarts. Too much nipple on the brain.
It may be because I'm a student of English and film and theater and so on, but I definitely understand thinking in movie scenes AND words. The movie scenes most of the time are what I'd do in certain scenarios because I'm very self-centered...sometimes it even gets in the way of living because I'm too busy daydreaming...and sometimes I'll wake up and there will be words streaming through my head. It's a really cool feeling when those word correspond with the dream I was just having.
