Think it's OK to badmouth and degrade us meat eaters but it's an unholy crime for a meat eater to badmouth a vegan?

why does someone your age let things like that bother them, and not have the foresight to avoid bad mouthing anybody in the first place?

actually i believe societies view is changing towards vegans to the point where within a few years it may be possible to not only bad mouth a vegan in public but also give them a little shove if you see one....most are pale and frail and are easily bullied....

little known fact...most vicious dogs wont bite a vegan...they dont taste good

Well, I have heard just as many meat-eaters badmouthing vegans as the other way around, so I am not sure of your premise.

At least in my personal experience when I was a vegetarian people insulted me about it all the time and I never criticized anyone who ate meat.

Well the two philosophies aren't on equal footing. Most meat-eaters don't even have a philosophy - you eat meat because it tastes good, while you're a vegan because eating meat is wrong, or less commonly because you don't like meat. And clearly, if you think killing animals is wrong, it doesn't matter who does the killing.

Some people eat a vegan diet for spiritual reasons.

On the other hand, meat eating goes right along with ignorant mainstream christianity. You know, the old chestnut about the animals were put here for us to use, and the land of milk and honey. God bless america.

I would suggest that an ignorant christian would consider it an unholy crime for any person to choose a vegan diet.

I Don't Hate Vegans For Being Vegan, What I Hate Is The

Total Disregard By Some Of Them For Their Health...:(.

Many Times I Have Read A Post From A Vegan Telling Us How They Went

To The Doctor And Were Diagnosed With A Vitamin Or Mineral Defficiency

That Could Have Been Simply Rectified By Putting Some Meat In Their Diet.

But Did They Do This, NO, They Rushed Down To The Health Food Shop

And Bought A Bottle Of Suppements...:(.

Coming From Someone Who Says They Are Soooooooooo Health Concious,

In My Opinion Thats A Joke...:(.

    Cheers Glen.

Aren't you confusing Vegans with Vegan fanatics? The difference is that the latter category benefits from the "empty can rattles the most" idiom.

"I became a fanatic about healthy food in 1944." -Gloria Swanson

"A fanatic is one who can't change his mind and won't change the subject."
    -Winston Churchill

"Fanatics are picturesque, mankind would rather see gestures than listen to reasons." -Friedrich Nietzsche

This is entirely possible on a carnivorous/omnivorous diet too. I don't take stock of deficiency diagnosis by doctors unless I've got severe symptoms, but I live on lots of meat and very little vegetables/fruit and would have done the same thing.

It's completely possible to eat a vegetarian diet and meet all your dietary needs. Eating a vegan diet and meeting dietary needs of people is more complicated and requires more careful meal planning, there are proteins and fats that are harder to get from a vegan diet, and I'd probably recommend extensive research or consulting a nutritionist first.

I think vegans and vegetarians have a point, and a fair one. I wouldn't mind eating a diet without hurting a creature. But anytime I hear someone compare human rights and animal rights I get pretty irritated.

People also choose to be vegan because it is better for the environment to eat lower on the food chain. That is why I became a vegetarian. But now that I can get sustainable local meat, I sometimes eat meat.
