3 injuries in a week, is this some kind of sign that I shouldn't go barefoot?

3 injuries in one week, and all on the same foot! Last week Tuesday, picked up a metal or glass shard in the heel of my right foot. On Wednesday I got stuck by a large thorn near the base of the 5th metatarsal on my right foot.

Now today my son and I headed to the park. Not even 3 steps past the end of the concrete sidewalk, I stepped through a patch of clover and felt a prick in my 2nd toe on my right foot, and found a honey bee buzzing, stuck to my toe! I flicked it off, pulled out what appeared to be the stinger, then hobbled my way back to the house to clean it up and put a bandage on it with antibiotic ointment. Darn thing felt like a needle prick the whole time I was walking back.

But seriously, this is getting ridiculous. Nearly a year with no real injuries and now 3 in a week??

I was going to say that you probably just aren't used to going barefoot and having to be more careful where you step and/or your feet may just still be sensitive from not being barefoot much,

but seeing as how you said it's been nearly a year, then i dunno :D that's pretty crazy, maybe you're just having a bad week?

Well they say bad things come in threes! Sounds like you just had bad luck that week.

I have had the same injury to my big toes for ages seems to happen like once a year... i will be walking along and for some reason stub either of my big toes on the sidewalk. Takes a nick out of my skin and bleeds for ages, very annoying! Did it big time once when i was drunk too, that stung like hell!

Not a regular thing though thankfully and hasnt put me off. Just annoying!

It's just coincidence. Sometimes it does seem luck -good or bad- comes in streaks, in reality what happens it's those times we remember.. these three incidents you may recall ten years from now, while the 3 separate times you had a small scrape on your hands over the past year are long forgotten. Don't let it discourage you.

    Patrick,

There are quite a few artificial environments and maybe a few natural ones where bare feet are prone to puncture or burn.

But I think maybe your concentration is just off. Bare feet require that you pay more attention to where you step. Patches of blooming clover attract bees at ground level. It was just a matter of time before you stepped on one if you are not looking.

If you really are picking up shards of metal and glass, then wear sandals or shoes until you get to a place that is foot-friendly.
