What I want to know is: Where was this woman's mother before the child services got involved? Was't she wondering about how her daughter and grandkids were doing in the aftermath of the victim's loss of home and job? I sure as hell would be trying to look after my kids in a situation like that...and trying to get her help if she was mentally messed up, before the situation got this bad.

But multiple doctors at multiple hospitals had said there was nothing wrong with her, one of which reported her as a nuisance.

Then they (the doctors) should be banned from practicing medicine. Ever! And the hospital should be closed. It's called malpractice. They killed her.

Testing for a blood clot takes a scan. They do those all of the time.

They did. Probably, all three hospitals did.
People die. It's not always someone's fault. Not everything is a reason to sue someone.

Doctors have a hard job, with a lot of responsibility; if they've followed the guidelines, there shouldn't even be an option for lawsuit. This is one of the reasons that healthcare costs so much; everyone's constantly looking for a payout and thinking emotionally rather than rationally; when the reality is, sometimes people die, sometimes mistakes happen, sometimes equipment fails, sometimes people mess up.

I would bet they did follow guidelines. It's precisely the fear of malpractice suits that drives hospitals to ensure the guidelines are followed to the letter every time. I could see maybe one hospital getting it wrong one time...but three hospitals? Not likely.

A lot of mistakes were made. Ultimately, it falls on the hospital. Then the police. It's really sad it happens like this.

What about science; or the realm of possibility?

I don't understand what's so hard about accepting that healthscans aren't foolproof.

Yup. Of course the scans probably would have been more accurate if she had been well spoken, attractive and white.

That or they wouldn't have been so quick to dismiss her. "Oh here comes another big loud trouble making black woman, can't understand what she's saying, probably on drugs... she needs lock up, that's what she needs".

That's just how these things are, can't be helped. Mistakes happen, people fall through the cracks. I'm sure the doctors and nurses had to make some judgment called based on previous experiences and probabilities.

I find it funny that her mom is concerned.. after telling child services that she'd take the kids as long as their mother was not allowed to stay with them..

Also.. it's a hospital.. people are misdiagnosed all the time.. it's not a 100% fool proof place.. people die from simple surgeries.. people get sick from visiting them.. etc.. Also she was removed from the hospital by police... makes you wonder what she said or did to have to get the police involved other than "refusing to leave"... you look at her as a homeless black woman and automatically assume that they rejected her based on class and race...

It's very likely she was racially profiled as "a homeless black woman" which in many places also means "crack head/drug seeker" to both the police and medical profession. It's unfortunate that this type of profiling happens, but it does.

Very few facts; very many conjectures.

Here in Pittsburgh many of our hospitals are set up to handle the mentally ill. In fact the police are more likely to take a crazy person to the psych hospital than they are to take them to jail. Depending on what the person has done or course. Allegheny county jail also has Mercy Psychiatric built into it. Pittsburgh does take care of its crazy people.

Im perfectly sane, so they dont take care of me.. ;)

Ah yes, the old chestnut of 'police officiousness', eh? For my own amusement and reflection I always 'profile' the types that are drawn to masturbating over their badges whilst wearing jackboots...eager types that crave the envy of their peers...who has the best moustache, the biggest pecs, the deepest voice, the tiniest dick, the biggest car, the most arrests, the most stripes and commendations, and, um who can strike the most intimidating and macho pose...*yawn*...if ever coralled by one or more of these blunt instruments of The State tell 'em nuffin'. 'No Comment' ought to be the only dialogue entered into! They are amusing in their own pathetic way. Just watch them closely when they're in herd mode...
