so im almost finished reading it...and im really really trying to stretch the last few chapters. i only started it last week and ive just fallen in love with the book. i dont want it to end!! i dont even know where to start...the writting is brilliant really. its made me really grateful by showing me such a true side of poverty, what their family had to undergo. its sad but he's hilarious at some points, ive cried and laughed out loud. i love his style and i love reading about his childhood going to new york to limerick. if you havent read this, please do...youll never forget it.
Yeah this book is awesome. I've read it 3 times. It's one of my favorites. I've seen the movie twice, and it's not as wonderful as the book.
omg it's SUCH a good book... It puts a whole new perspective on life. I've read the book I don't know how many times.. It's all screwed up now from me dropping it in the bath water umpteen times.. ahah. i read the sequel to it, 'Tis.. It's not nearly as good, but it is a nice follow up.
ya ive heard that 'tis wasnt as great. but i'm still going to read it, just to see where it all goes. theres no way im seeing the movie! that will just ruin it all...i already have the book all in my head, my own movie version of it.
Angelas ashes is a big favorite of mine.. i can read it over and over again and I do! You may be suprised by the film.. its quite true to the book as Frank had alot to do with it!! As for tis.. i personally think its a great read aswell.. obvoisly not as good as the first book.. but a great conclusion as after angelas ashes you do find yourself wondering what happened to Frank and co I also got hold of some dvds.. like a documentary made by connor MCcourt, Malakeys son.. That is pretty damn good too.. full of footage of the real Mccourts!! To sum it up.. Bloody amazin all in all
I read it a long time ago and loved it! Then, the summer after I read it, I happened to be at Thomas Jefferson's house in Virginia (Montecello) on the 4th of July and McCourt was speaking at a ceremony there for naturalized immigrants. He a great speaker as well and I got to meet him. I think he was kind of amused at a little 5th grade girl gushing about his book. =P
you know i just got to thinking.. did the McCourt's ever brush their teeth growing up?? Proobably not, their parents were always talking about their dentures.lol.. Hmmm......
Too funny, i just finished this book last night. i really enjoyed the book, but didn't like the end so much. i agree the book is written really well, and i too found myself laughing while wiping away tears. i doubt i'll read the sequel though.
wow that would be rather uncomfortable at some parts. ahha especially the end and the parts where he jacks off. hahaha
Ive seen the film and that was sad enough!! Someone died like every 5 minutes, it was a surprise there was characters still left alive at the end!! The concept is a gd idea, but it really is too depressing. ~Vindicated~
I love that book, that guy really is an inspritation the way he crawled his way out of such an unfortunate life. I liked 'Tis' as well. I also loved the movie.
yea, ive read it twice. terribly sad. most life in ireland was like that thou... its only in recent years we've built up. its really a great book
I read it a couple years ago, I was in a funk for days, heh. It's great book, but man, it's depressing...
