For all the new kids on the block that don't know me, this is my 4th set of dreads over the past 4+ years. Through trial and error I finally made a set I was pleased with. The first set [twist and rip] was made way too thick, I think I ended up having 17-20 dreads (thanks Pat). The second set [twist and rip] was by far my favourite but I ended up getting some residue that I couldn't get out of my roots/ just freaked out one day and wanted my normal hair back so out they went... Third set [backcombed & crocheted] were more of trial thing. I wanted to test regular crocheting to see first hand what all the hate was about, and well... I ended up not liking the way they felt/looked (personal preference) It's been about 1 year since I started these things (give or take a week or two). I backcombed and crocheted them to make them, added some human hair extensions around 9 mos (as an experiment for clients that had been asking about them.. ended up keeping them). Here's a fuck load of pictures. Enjoy. Right after I took out the third set, before this set. 2 Months 2 Months, little nubby guy 2 Months
Dude, love the plugs in the 10-11 month pictures. Also, the labret looks good, were you pierced at that size? Rad lad hairs too!
Thanks man, my boyfriend makes plugs and those are the pair he made me for my birthday If you want to check out his stuff, you can take a look here: http://www.************/OaksPlugs As for the labret, yes I was pierced at that size. It's an 8g...One day it will be much larger aha. Thanks for all zee comments guys
haha I got tired of it. Keeping it black for awhile most likely... but i also don't plan on dying it for awhile so I'ma see how it looks when my roots start growing in.
Yeah cool, I remember checking out his stuff a little while ago actually. What did you think of the initial 8g piercing? I was at 8g, had a 6g glass labret in the mail coming, but decided to take it out as the 8g piece was really doing some work to my gums and didn't want to leave it even a few weeks until the 6g to arrive. I'm still real devastated about that though and was thinking of re piercing but straight up at a larger size, like 6g where I can wear better fitting jewellery straight away and skip the crap ones before. I'm worried that it'd still rub with the better jewellery though and the pain wouldn't be worth it haha. Thoughts?
It wasn't bad at all. I definitely worked myself up before the piercing after seeing the needle and jewelry. The needle was a tad bigger then the actual piece and I was pierced with a surgical steel labret post. My piercer was really quick though and it was no different then getting pierced with a standard 14g. My lip bled a little bit right after I was pierced and my lip was a bit swollen for a few days but it was never really sore..just tender. I also ended up getting a small bruise beside my labret that went away quickly. I switched to my 8g glass piece after about 1.5 weeks (it had been fully healed and I had no more swelling). I currently haven't had any issues with gum damage, and I think that may be just because of where my labret was pierced. We used an old scar from when I had my lip pierced so thats where my labret was done. It sits up above my gums but doesn't touch my teeth either. I don't have overly large lips but I suppose the angle of them keeps it away from my mouth bits haha I'm expecting some damage when I go larger (0g and up) just because the back plates start getting pretty intense, so I'm just going to see how it goes. I put a layer of tape on it today and already have my 6g piece waiting. Slowly but surely /novel
i have to admit, red was too friggin' hot for me. no... it had nothing to do with amarant the red, it just suited you too damn well.... haha oh well.. you still cute.
Fuck yeah, that's pretty sweet. That healed pretty fast then didn't it. Yeah, especially if you're wearing stone jewellery or something, although that wouldn't be everyday wear probably. At least if you stretch you can notice erosion, if it occurs, before it's too late. Rather than being punched or scalpeled straight up and having it rub on them straight away. Either way, this is making me quite jealous and bummed about losing mine haha. But nice work :2thumbsup:
Yeah my oral piercings have always healed super fast but anything else on my face I've always had trouble with (aside from my septum). I don't think stone will be too bad, it's fairly soft, as long as the back plate isn't super thick and is curved slightly to fit. I think I'm going to custom order a nice stone piece from Way Body Arts when I'm closer to a 0g or 00g http://www.************/pages/WAY-Body-Arts/107438509279354 but chyeaaa I'm excited, hopefully all goes well.
Aaaaahhh wow, I hadn't seen that much of their jewellery before! Only the odd bits and pieces before. Major crush on both of them haha. Love his blackwork too How is your septum going? What were you plans for that again? I'm at 0g in mine now so I'm happy about that at least haha. Derailed thread completely, sorry!
I was stretching my septum but it started to push it down too noticeably so I stopped. I think its a 10g or an 8g..not really sure. I just have a couple 16g rings in it, no plans for it any more. ...gota love them trolls
