LOL gods a pretty awesome word...And it would be really disappointing if the moonlanding was faked LOL
LOL.....i dont see anything wrong with the religion...I thought about being one for awhile and iam not one of those diehard ones neither. I dont believe that whole Jesus is the son of God stuff..Its a tough one
That is one of my main issues with that religion as well. But I view God to be something much bigger than christianity.
I think that the basic misunderstanding that god is a being is what has led to all the problems faced between different religions. If you begin to think of god as the sum total of all energy and experience then all religions start to make much more sense and you can see that they all have the same basic message.
While I agree that that view is perhaps a much more healthier view, I have heard it debated things like god is sum total of all energy + something beyond as well. So even that slight twist of words changes the perception of what god is and since it's not necessarily tangible for everyone it makes it difficult, so then we go back to what I bolded in your paragraph and all of a sudden it sounds like you are preaching to someone to think a certain way which of course it may relate to some but probably not to others.
I suppose this is simply the way I understand God and it helps me a great deal to be accepting and understanding of religion, where I used to be Atheist and quite callous about religion in general. I certainly don't mean to preach, but I do think that the idea of God as a being doesn't lend itself to the way we think of god as omnipotent. I think that a lot of people don't even consider the thought of God as something other than a guy with a big white beard in the sky, and in that don't take the idea seriously. I certainly didn't take the thought of God seriously before I came to believe the things I believe now. I don't mean to push my beliefs on anyone, but I do think people can benefit from this perspective especially since it doesn't exclude any religion. In fact I feel that every religion is based in truth and humans have gone to great lengths to muddle that truth up. This is my original point, that thinking of God as a being leads to the thought of "your god" or "my god" and the inevitable difficulties which arise between people who worship "different" gods. I feel like it's much more important to come together through the similarities between religions than to fight over the differences.
Im viewing it more from a philosophical standpoint I guess, it still doesn't negate the cause and effect relationship that all religions attempt to deliver, so I still see it as problematic but I may just be callous . For example between that bold part it could just as easily read "Jesus Christ, the lord and savior which runs through all of us yet tests us through deception" or " a flying spaghetti monster which demands worship" so on and so forth... So my point is this ^ still doesn't go away when you maintain that personal cause and effect relationship. I think that's a lot of the reason for problems in religion also a terribly difficult thing to change. I guess if I were to take on your energy concept than really the deaths throughout history attributed with religion start to appear very similar to star wars, Jedi and syth forces
God should be what brings people to a better place in themselves. Personally, I think it could be a woman as no one else could throw such monkey wrenches into the works and sit back and wait for it to all fall out.
this ^ you can have your own beliefs ... believing 'theres something more to it' doesnt imply you are follower of a religion nor care about any one of them
yeah dude the beliefs werent there for me..I think its awesome if you believe in it...I liked the whole idea of praying, not having any attachments, but i would have done it for the next life and they dont really believe in that...I honestly dont know much about the religion, i didnt get into it like that..But yeah, the lifestyle is pretty peaceful....I like peace LOL
