Good or bad idea? Tried the Pill. Kept missing it and didn't like it. I'm a slight hypochondriac and the thought of possible blood clots scares me and the possible instance of a pulmonary embolism due to using the patch? Any advice anyone can give?
Go see your Doctor, they'll calm all your fears. But my feeling with birth control for women is that you have to find the method that works for you. Do as much research as you can and don't be afraid to try something out. If it doesn't work there's always loads more options to try, the implant, coil etc.
Blood clots/PEs with birth control are mainly a problem in women who are over 35 or who smoke. It's highly unlikely you'd have any problems with that. If you're that concerned with taking hormones and are looking for long-term birth control, you could try a copper IUD. No hormones, and it's good for 10 years--no more worrying about when to take a pill or change a patch.
