My roommate and I were having an argument yesterday on what were the top 5 albums of 2004. The discussion started because our own campus newspaper published their picks, which he agreed with and I disagreed with. Here are mine, in no particular order, and I hope more people follow suit! Wilco - A Ghost Is Born Modest Mouse - Good News For People Who Love Bad News Drive-By Truckers - The Dirty South North Mississippi Allstars - Hill Country Revue Iron & Wine - Our Endless Numbered Days
Once - Nightwish A crow left of the murder - Incubus mother earth - within temptation once more with feeling - placebo nymphetamine - cradle of filth peace and love xxxxx
1. sufjan stevens - seven swans 2. brian wilson - smile 3. leonard cohen - dear heather 4. comets on fire - blue cathedral 5. interpol - antics
rammstein - reise, reise nightwish - once within temptation - the silent force within temptation - mother earth velvet revolver - contraband
1. Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand 2. Wilco - A Ghost Is Born 3. Elliott Smith - From a Basement on the Hill 4. Modest Mouse - Good News for People who Love Bad News 5. Phish - Undermind
Old Crow Medicine Show - Old Crow Medicine Show Phish - Undermind Drive-By Truckers - The Dirty South My Morning Jacket - It Still Moves (I think this was an 04 release) A Perfect Circle - eMOTIVe
I would just second the Nighwish, Modest Mouse, and Interpol nomenees... most English music off this year is rather shitty though.
Datsuns - Outta Sight Gomez - Split The Difference The Gathering - Sleepy Buildings (a semi acoustic evening) Soulwax - Any Minute Now Interpol - Antics My Morning Jacket - It Still Moves was from last year but it's absolutely great from start to finish..was 2004 a bad year for music?
I kinda agree with the english music comment. I am however proud of Franz Ferdinand ( mostly coz they're fellow Glaswegians! lol) and the success theyve had this year. But also, Snow patrols album this year was not half bad at all. It was muse's year last year, i think. peace and love xxxxxx
