If this isn't one of life's eternal questions, then it should be. So which chase would you choose? If you put a gun to my head, I'd pick French Connection just because of the ending and the fact that it involved a car AND an L-train (but I'm open to arguments---Bullitt, after all, took place in picturesque San Francisco and had two of the coolest muscle cars ever).
French Connection, for the energy and the rawness! the cars in bullit are super badass, but i like how in french connection he is on edge, and laying into his horn the whole time... good question!
of the two Id say bullitt but I liked the one with the mini car I think it was one of the Bourne Identity movies
Bullit was a landmark car movie and The French Connection was okay, but the movie Vanishing Point was much better. Virtually the entire movie is a car chase involving a 1970 white 440 Dodge Challenger. They used five cars to make the movie with no modifications except heavy duty shocks in one for a jump scene. Barry Newman (the driver) said that the cars were so powerful that "it was almost as if there was too much power for the body. You'd put it in first and it would almost rear back!" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanishing_Point_(1971_film) The exhaust notes in Bullit were dubbed in, not real.
The Vanishing Point was great and that naked blonde chick – perfect :2thumbsup: That along with Barry Newman hopped up on amphetamines looking for the shit - fantastic. Hotwater
Never saw Ronin. There are a lot of car chases anymore in the movies but most are not believable, except of course the Dodge in The Blues Brothers standing up on it's back bumper and spinning around. (I think that's how it happened)! Bullit and Vanishing Point were the two major movies that defined all future chases. Another really good period piece is Two Lane Blacktop with James Taylor, Dennis Wilson of the Beach-boys and Warren Oates. Not for everyone as there is almost no dialogue or racing. Taylor is the driver of a hopped up 55 Chevy and Wilson is his mechanic. They drive down rt 66 looking for street drags and such. The film was shot as they travel along so you see what the country, cars and people looked like back then. They run into Warren Oates in his brand new 455 or something, Pontiac and agree to race to DC for pink slips. They never do, but we get to see the country in between. I think the 55 also appears in American Graffiti, another excellent movie. Two Lane is expense though, can't find a cheap copy anywhere. $70 freaking dollars new!
I'ma gonna go with Bullitt,,, cuz' I actually want that car. :cheers2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWgR2vYE2_o"]Bullitt Car Chase (Full Scene) - YouTube Either car really. &*%$ a LeManzzzz...
Now this shit reminds me of driving in my old 72' Coronet, I could out drive that dude with a 383 Magnum and a 6 pack in it I think with some minor suspension and subframe tweaks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxJwP0izGgc&feature=related"]MOTÖRHEAD ACE OF SPADES (Good Quality) - YouTube
I dunno. The French Connection, I think, because it involves the chasing of a moving elevated train, which is just awesome.
