I have this idea to build a flying house. Think of the movie Up, only more sophisticated. Picture a smallish house with a big metal halo above it. The torus structure would be filled with helium (nice and safe:sunny for lift, and the steering device would consist of something like a sail. The primary energy system would be powered by renewable sources such as wind and solar. I have been interested in tiny houses for some time now, and only recently was I contemplating various transportation schemes. Many tiny houses are situated on a trailer so they can be towed by a truck or something. What if a house could fly? You could protect yourself from a variety of natural disasters (forest fires, tsunamis, polar bear attack, etc) and you would be free to travel almost anywhere you want. You would never have to deal with rotten neighbors again! By the way, I had this idea before Up was released. I'm not completely basing my idea off a Pixar film... Perhaps if someone is just as ambitious as I am, we could join forces and kick ass. Thoughts? I'm not stupid, just crazy.
you will need alot of Helium to lift even a small house so I´d go for a lightweight alluminium zeppelin design.
even if it doesn´t work you can still have alot of fun with the helium. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-XbjFn3aqE"]MythBusters - Fun With Gas - YouTube
the solid state modular gravity control grid has not yet been invented on planet earth. once it is, there will be no reason a solid foundation could not be built upon them.
Part of the fun is trying to make it happen - even if it never gets off the ground you will have had a good time in the field giving it a go! Good luck... life is full of infinite possibilities :daisy:
I think living in a dirigible sounds like the coolest idea ever. It could easily be done. Probably a little bit expensive for helium and aluminum, but you wouldn't have to pay for property. Just land somewhere free. Then float from city to city solving mysteries. That's a good life.
On the old Star Trek tv show they had a city in the clouds called Stratus . You might make a small house from carbon fiber , use several milar helium filed ballons . Cover the top with photo cells . You would want it on the ground for high winds . I dont know if the F.A.A. would ever really let you fly some thing like this tho. desert rat
am i crazy or do i feel like i brought some things here... the part about tiedie pubic hair and hurrricane
With the rite work you might make this work , but I dought this would be very practical .A guy built a light weight car that he added wings to make it a plane . He was a pilot and knew what he was doing . Would want to spend a lot of time and money on this to see it blowned in to a mountain and wrecked , or get killed in a crash landing ? desert rat
