Normally I love going out to the movies, the whole theatre-popcorn-sticky-floor experience... but it's sooooo expensive! (Dammit!) ... Even going to see a matinee costs a small fortune... ack... So we're stuck renting videos... Thank god Rogers has those coupon books... free rentals once in a while is nice... ack sorry... wish that theatre prices would go down a bit...
Cerridwen, you're SO right. It totally and completely sucks. We love going to the movies, but it's become so expensive That's why we're hoping that at least ONE person gives us a gift certificate to the movies. I love the ones they have that are two tickets, two drinks and a popcorn. Perfect!
One of the nice things about living in a third-rate small town is the fact that matinee tickets are about $5. Movies are almost a religion with me. For me at least, it helps to eat *before* going to the theater.
Movies really do cost a lot. There aren't even many comin' out nowadays that are worth the price of admission.
There's always benefits of knowing half of the people that work at the movie theater. That's where all the punky kids I went to middle school work, so I have to pay full price for a ticket ($5) but then I get all the food and drink I want for like... $1 so that way it looks like they're putting something in the cash register and their managers won't see. Woohoo! I don't really go that much though.. it's the only decent theater for people in the 3 counties north of mine so I get lots of rednecks there who can't appreciate a good movie.
there's a super shitty one with $1 movies kinda near here... all the other ones are all nice an expensive.... i love the shitty ones. I think it's because there used to be a super-shitty one near my house but, now it's a fuckin' Starbucks, a fuckin' Starbucks!!!!1
If you live or ever go to Calgary Alberta you should definetely check out our cheap-seats downtown. They're so friggin cool! I just saw the Motorcycle Diaries there for 3 bucks! YEAH!
The price here was $7 per person last year, but its prolly gone up since then... in New York there was this kickass place that showed old movies for $1 per GROUP, man I miss that place... I havent been to a movie since October 2003
Eh, its not that bad. Last one I saw was either "Secret Window" or "School of Rock".... actually Secret Window came out in the spring, so it mustve been then... haha I dont remember anymore
LOL, what is it with alberta and cheap movies? when i lived in lethbridge, the movie mill let people in for a buck fifty on cheap night.
I went to the movies last week, and my ticket was $6.25. I thought that was expensive - not Japan expensive, but certainly the prices of movie tickets seemed to have gone up here while I was in Japan.
i agree, movies are expensive... but i think its all of the extras that go wit it... if the price of the food wasnt so much, it wouldnt be so bad.. me and my dad went to the movies a month ago.. two tickets, two sodas and one small bag of popcorn.. 20$... that was just for us two.. imagine a family!
