ive been prescribed clonaepam in the past, but the dr wasnt really all that smart (no pun intended) but im going to a dr next week to try and get them again i dont really exert any physically signs of anxiety, i mean i can fake a panic attack but that only goes so far. and no gaurunteed to get benzos (they try and give me anti depressants) so my question is what should i say to the dr to ensure they give me benzos (no im not an addict benzos greatly help my social and generalized anxiety)
dont stop moving your feet and playing with your fingers aswell say your worried about everything and that youve been very agitated lately
I'm just wondering how you exert no physical signs of anxiety... that's almost impossible... I have extreme anxiety and get a hefty script for klonopins every month and when I have anxiety it's severe, including severe physical symptoms..
Usually if you let a new doctor know that an old doctor had you on a certain medicine and it was working well for you they have no reservations about continuing to prescribe it. The only exception would be if your old doctor had you on like some un-god-ly high dose of Klonopin or something. But I don't think that is the case.
I tried to get medication for my anxiety today and doc gave me paxil.... I don't want antideppressants I just want a benzos. I use to be on lorazepam, didn't like it much. Any ideas how to convince my doc that paxil is the wrong medication for me and klonopin would be the right direction ?
Did you actually try the Paxil? I am not being condescending at all, but in my own personal experiences, I actually found the SSRI/SNRI's to be superior to benzos for controlling generalized and ruminative anxiety. However, I do not think they are very good at controlling anything more than moderate depression ironically. If you still want benzos with the Paxil, you need to stress to the doctor that you still have intermittent Panic Attacks or other episodes of crippling worry that the Paxil doesn't help with. And this is true, SSRI's are not so great for Panic Disorder, but like I said, are pretty good, actually, for Generalized Anxiety.
exactly. if you go in there trying hard to get scripted a certain med, you're probably going to look like you're looking for drugs to abuse. just be honest about your symptoms and say that you'd prefer something to take only when you have symptoms, not daily.
But, like I said, if you ONLY want benzos, saying you have the symptoms of "Generalized Anxiety Disorder" is not likely to get benzos. Only will symptoms of "Panic Disorder" get you the possibility of getting benzos sans SSRIs.
i was also prescribed aderall but i never took it just sold it, think the dr would be against prescribing benzos and stimulants together? also etkearne what is the difference between panic disorder and regular anxiety?
Tried paxil, no results yet. I want to have a medication to take when needed like lorazepam. Since I've had lorazepam before what should I say to push my doc to suggest klonopin? Never had a script for kpins but they made me feel better than lorazepam.
If you tell them you have anxiety disorders, they're gonna put you on a long term anxiety control medication like paxil, rather than a short term control like klonopin, it's more effective in the long run and 'better' for you and a better option The only reason that I take klonopins along with antidepressants is because anxiety and panic attacks cripple my day to day life and prevent me from working and going to school, because my anxiety and panic attacks cause me, among other things, extreme digestive irritation and it's not something that's fun to deal with away from home
btw, paxil needs 3-5 weeks to build up in your system to see full results, most medications (that I know of) need a build up period
well yeah that usually works, I had stopped my psych visits and switched my meds to be filled by my doc, but he doesn't believe in Xanax, as he wouldn't even give .125mg, when I was on 1mg 4 times a day, so .5mg 2/day (b.i.d.), but for the dependence it helped, though luckily I hadn't been addicted (phsycially) no withdrawels, but that's going to 25% instantly, but also gave me paxil instead of my other antidepressants, I just straight up told my doctor, I don't want to take paxil, or any other anti-depressants, just the ritalin, klonopin, tramadol, and flexeril, yes all drugs that people can abuse, but my doctor understood what I meant. I just was tired of antidepressants, and I clearly asked for Flexeril, no beating around the bush, and got it. And NO it is not a pill mill, as they don't give xanax/oxycodone or most other pain killers, and if so very low doses or low # per month. So just be honest with your doctor and tell them what you have heard and read, I brought in pmphlets and medication guides with a website he could visit to verify, but without checking gave me, what I showed. So just get a doctor who understands you and what you could really use. Tell them after the 2 weeks or so that the paxil didn't do shit, though it is better for G.A.D., social anxiety, and all sorts that I have, but I'm done with it. and Benzo's are more for panic/anxiety attacks. Which I usually don't show signs/symptoms, but I explain myself, and what happens, I've been told that I have textbook panic attacks, the feeling in my arms, numbness, syncopation, and that aint bullshit, but some days my SAD makes me rub my hands together, until sweaty and hard to stare my dr in the face, so that is a method the dr can see how the meds are working.
Do anti-depressants have negative effects on you? when I tried prozac it made me experience some pretty horrible things so that is what I would say to convince them not to give me anti-depressants. Then again one could hypothetically look up a list of negative side effects for the anti-depressant they are prescribed and say they are having those side effects even if they aren't
